The different boards are all over the place. 100 place differences are not uncommon. There is really no way of knowing where a player is until someone picks him.

I agree that there is great disagreement regarding certain players.

For me, it does not follow that the big boards don't help a lot in assessing players.

For example, how many of the consensus top 20 do you expect to last until Round 2?
How many of the consensus top 40 will last through the second round.
How many of the top 60 do you expect to be avaialable after Round 3?

Perhaps this is just nitpicking, but I think that we know a lot about where a player is likely to be drafted long before he is actually drafted (unless, of course, he is one of the few that a team GM falls in love with and picks him a round or two early. I think that this happened once or twice is past patriot drafts.
