FWIW, I think, THINK, the Pats are more than capable of beating the Chargers on sunday. In fact, I expect it. However, I've not seen this amount of reactionary vitriol in some time towards "visiting" opposing fans, nor a damning sense of gladed defensiveness. I am not used to this and I can only imagine that even the most loyal of fans have some degree of realization that our beloved Pats may, just might, lose this sunday.

So what if they do?

I'm not trying to be confrontational, nor am I making excuses. This team went 12-4, has made a great show in the play-offs thus far, and appears to be well-primed for future greatness. Winning the SB is tough. Luck and skill. For a team so historically inept, this recent rise to greatness has almost made us believe we are pre-ordained to at least defend our title, whether or not we are the defending champs this particular year. It's like the first time you get electric windows. The next time you have to actually roll down the window, you think negatively.

I've been reading our (PatsFans) interaction with Charger fans. If we do lose, we have a lot of 'splainin' to do, Lucy. It shouldn't be the case. The Chargers are no better than the Pats, but they can beat us on any day. I know talking smack is a part of a fans game, but fans have 0 weight in the game. As a former player, I can tell you than any player worth his weight never even notices whatever the hell the crowd is doing. They are invisible and don't exist within the game. They say they do only to keep good graces, as one says nice to meet you upon introduction. Nice to say, means nothing. Home field is more about comfort than the fans.

I only ask that PatsFans resort to actually personify the qualities they continually lambast actual Pats players about.

If they lose, they lose. It has been a good season and I am happy with the results, especially due to the losses in free agency and trade, and injuries we had this year.

They pick 24 and 28 in April and we get to anticipate what Tommy and can do tuning up his new WR Corps in the off-season.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with losing to a 14-2 team who has been dominant all year. Although I would rather it didn't happen

Hey, Nem acknowledged me for the first time

NEM:

Leonard Davis: Never plays LT, no?

Nem, whilst I admire your willingness to defend me, I assure you I can speak for myself.

Spacecrime: Whilst I determine to resist the temptation to accept your apparent contemptuous attempt to defy me to explain myself "in english", I can only say that if you are confused, please specify your question. Lacking that, please aim your conceit elsewhere.

Hmmm....what if the Pats do Lo..Lo..L..L..L...

I'll answer that in the middle of February, when the Pats season is over.

I expect us to win,but I won't be shocked if we lose. If we lose,we lose. The Chargers are an excellent team, tough to beat, and as long as we play our best game there's no shame in a loss to that team.
The Chargers should feel the same way.
These are 2 outstanding teams;football-wise it's the best game there is this weekend imo. Whoever wins this game should be able to beat anybody.

NEM, you're a kook, but you're cool with me.

I CAN NOT GO THROUGH ANOTHER OFF SEASON LIKE THE ONE WE WENT THROUGH LAST YEAR.

I was a wreck.

Oh. I get it now. This is Dianne Chambers, isn't it.

Just havin fun zarakota.

I am not expecting anything this Sunday. I love the Pats, but I am almost expecting a loss, which though would make me unhappy for a day or two, wouldn't be the end of the world, it's just sports. I really feel the Pats are in the reloading stage of their dynasty, and this years draft booty (2007 draft) will be added to the fine prospects the Pats have drafted the last 5 years. Depending on the front office's moves this offseason (hopefully the offseason starts February 5th), such as signing or not signing guys like Samuel, TBC, etc, will really be a telltale sign as to where this franchise is headed. If the Pats add instead of subtract, I really feel the Pats will be one of the top 4 teams next year, I don't know if I can say that for the 2006 Pats.

I am hoping the victory over the Jets is the start of the 4 game highlite DVD that I can possibly buy in March (April ?), but I am not 100% confident I'll be buying 4 Games to Glory in March, I'll be sad if we lose, but also excited to see what the future Pats can do. Remember, it took the great 49er teams of the 80's 9 years to win 4 Super Bowls, I'd be happy matching that, though I'd prefer to match the 70's Steelers, hehe.

Listen, Sam, I will not be subjected to your clumsy testosterone-fueled overtures. I am a strong-willed and mature, oh, well... Oh, Sam, OH SAM...

If the Patriots lose than I'm rooting for the Colts if they win.

Now if they both lose than I will root for the Saints (I'm debating rooting for Seattle since they have the draft pick).

Now if all three lose then I'm taking up fly fishing or whatever you call it.

If they lose, they lose. I'll root for the Ravens and Steve McNair to win it all. With the talent the Patriots have at WR this season it would almost be a miracle for them to win it all let alone the AFC.

Huh ? Almost to a man the Patriots fans here are merely saying we can win. It's the Charger fans who think their team is God's gift to the NFL. We have no explaining to do if we lost. The Charger trolls would if they lost but in that case they wouldn't be here.

If they lose, its different than last yr.. Last yr being from PA , and having to put up with the Steelers. I knew we were banged up, but I felt we beat Denver three in a row was possible.. If they lose well San Diego is a good team, they deserve to go on.. I would root for them, cant root for the Ravens or the Colts because of Adam, I could accept it a bit better this yr, because its been a succesful season so far, would still like to go to the AFC Championship game at worst. So we shall see, but will accept it better than last yt..

If we were to win then losing in the AFCCG is unacceptable. Gotta keep the streak going.
