The Colts APPEAR a lot better as of right bow. You can deny it all you want.
In regard to Johnson, they're swapping Reggie Wayne for him. An upgrade, but not a massive upgrade.

Langford and Cole are additions and improve their defense a bit, but I wouldn't say either are significant upgrades. Cole is a bit of a risk at the tender age of 33. Langford is decent, but more of a back up than a starter.

And I don't agree with you that the only old player they have added is Gore. Only Langford isn't well into his 30s. What I don't get is the Colts are risking a lot on players past their prime. Could pay off. Could be a major disaster. Cole is 33. Johnson is 34. Gore is 32.

I'm not claiming that the Colts are the team of the future, but they've improved and are definitely a contender.

They look better, but a lot better is not necessarily true.

And they needed to get a lot better to be in the same league as the Patriots.

Reggie Wayne basically sucked last year.

I think Andre Johnson is certainly a significant upgrade to Reggie Wayne, although you may feel differently.

65 catches.

They have improved a bit, but they needed to improve to be a contender. I still think there is a decent gap between the Pats and Colts. The Colts lucked (no pun intended) into the AFCCG.

Reggie Wayne was very good for half the year last year. So I would say he is on par for Wayne in the first half. We will see at 34 if Johnson doesn't slow down in the second half too.

He really disappeared down the last half of the season. Wayne was nothing even close to a threat, as noted in many of the threads leading up to the AFCCG.

Johnson has caught 100 plus balls 5 times in his career, and added another 85 last year. I think it's an upgrade for sure.

Are you talking about the patriots of last season or now?

We'll see, but it's okay to like the Patriots and still admit that another team made some improvements....really, it is!

I would say it's a pretty major upgrade, and I'm not all that high on Johnson. Wayne was awful last year, so that's a really low bar to clear.

The Colts have definitely improved, but I still think there's a sizable gap between us and them. Frank Gore and Andre Johnson don't move the needle much for me. I think Kendall Langford and Trent Cole will end up being bigger signings, and I think that's where they're strengthened their team.

You really didn't pay close attention. He was good through the first nine games and dropped off drastically. If you look at his production in the first half, he had a few clunkers, but was a solid receiver for the most part:

Johnson was just as inconsistent (granted with far lesser QBs throwing to him):

I had Reggie Wayne on my "offical pats fans" fantasy team. I'm aware of what he did/didn't do.

If you wish to think that Andre Johnson is not an upgrade to Reggie Wayne, be my guest. It's just a difference of opinions and there isn't a right/wrong answer.

When did I say they didn't make improvements. I am just not going to go overboard. I wasn't all that hot on Johnson to begin with. And I think Cole and Langford are good players, but nothing to write home about at this point. The Colts improved, but I don't see it as a drastic improvement. And the players they added have age concerns on whether they hit the age wall this upcoming season.

If the colts have a half decent defense, they have to be one of the favorites of the afc.

I agree, they have gotten one step closer to the promise land every year. This could be their year. It will be fun to watch them.

Don't twist my words. I said that they were fairly on par for the first half of the season last year and then Wayne fell apart down the stretch (and so did the Colts' offense). Johnson was better all year.

Johnson is an upgrade over nicks. All these afc teams are doing everything they can to unseed us.

Langford just turned 29. No real age concerns there, at least this year.

What did I do to "go overboard?"

I'm tired of the two extremes on this forum. Both sides of the extreme suck ass. I'm just trying to speak football in a reasonable sense.

I said he is the only one who doesn't. Cole is 33. Johnson is 34. Gore is 32. All are at the age where there is a good chance they could hit the age wall. In fact, Gore is actually living on borrowed time since he probably should have hit the age wall a year or two ago.
