Should # 14 Steve Grogan retired by the Pats ?

I'm torn with Grogan. I agree with those here that said a team should be very, very judicious as to whose uniform number they retire. On the other hand, I have no need to see some other Patriots 14 than Grogan taking snaps from center.

You can't retire #14...that honor has got to be for only the once in a lifetime special players. Players that defined or changed the scoop of the franchise. To date, the only two players that define that are:

John Hannah
Tom Brady

What about Tedy Bruschi? He above all on the current roster has contributed more to the success of the Patriots during their SB run's. Its was Tedy Bruschi who made the key plays that kept the Patriots alive or put the game away in the most critical moments. He came back from a stroke and a hole in his heart, I'm pretty sure no one else would. It was the defence that won those games and it was Tedy Bruschi calling the shots on the field when they won. I'll go as far as saying just like Tom Brady, that without Tedy Bruschi, the Pats wouldn't have those 3 rings :rocker:

That arguement could be made for more than just Tedy...such as Brown, and Vinateri. However, no player is more important than the QB. This is the only guy on the team you give complete control over the ball. He is the leader and key player of the team. No on has made an impact on this team like Tom Brady - not in the entire franchises history.
