Filed to ESPN: Patriots released CB Shawn Springs today. Team has not ruled out re-signing him, but for now sides seperating.

Good news for Wheatley, he had damn sure better play well in whatever role he will be in. Say what you want about Springs' attitude but unlike AD I thought he was pretty solid whenever he was on the field.

I told you guys months ago that he was going to be cut,he was a waste of a spot and he should have retired 2 years ago.

they're about to sign Mankins to a major deal...this release was to clear Springs 3 year, $9 million contract from 2008...i believe that they could still resign him for a 1 year cheap deal
