Shane Waldron - should we hire him?

Wasn't Waldron considered one of those bright up-and-coming prospects the Pats missed out on before the season started?

Good points. We aren't running the old patriots earndhart system anymore. This offense requires for guys to win on the outside. I'm stating to learn more on adding a #1 via trade.
How about drafting a Beast WR?

You get them on the cheap for a few years. Seattle nabbed 2 that have served them well.

Yes. He is getting a lot of flak. But he was considered a pretty good play design guy. Maybe does not know how to execute or when to call it.

Agreed there. When I think of beast WR I think of a guy that over powers defenses.. who runs through coverage.. and that's Metcalf. I thinking polk and baker will become fine NFL players but that game changer is what we need on the outside.

Unlike last year Huge drop off this time around with the WR class it's not even close. I would use the picks else where OT and some Players on Defense will be better value.

I think he could be some value as a consultant as far as someone AVP could chat with to come up with ideas, without actually controlling anything.

Exactly. ThAts my point. We have nothing to lose by having him in. We are devoid of talent on offensive coaching. Any addition is a welcome improvement.

The Browns need somebody yesterday.

He could help Kevin Stefanski who the same guy who took play calling away from AVP.
To be fair, AVP never had play calling duties for Stefanski to take away. Stefanski always called plays except for 1 playoff game which AVP called because Stefanski was out.

Why, Chicago is rotten to the core, we shouldn't touch anything that comes from there

er...who's gonna scout them? The same dudes that brought us what we have now? Do you trust them? I don't. But agree on the premise.

Which doesn't make sense to me. I mean fire the "OC" who doesn't call plays. Was there ever a "let's see how I can save my ass" moment bigger than that? "He" fired himself as the play caller this year, if you believe his BS. That dude is a dead man walking.

It came from above Stefanski and it was because of a clash with Watsons play style and the offense or some such crap. AVP was a scapegoat even though they made the playoffs despite using 5 different QBs. That is one of the reasons that I am not as low on AVP as others.

I'm done with more, random, mixed-system, advisors, and assistants on this team - period.
We ballooned to one of the largest coaching staffs in the league, and it doesn't help a new coach.
I bet this offseason will be more important for Mayo than anyone else on the team - including Maye.

Mayo needs to calibrate, dig in, evaluate, cement who he NEEDS to be (not who he wants to be), trim the fat on the staff, and perhaps hire 1 or 2 revered veteran coaches, and realize that year 2 may be his last chance to survive here.

I was under the impression that he has been brought in to work with Drake Maye.
I heard something months back he was supposed to be a coaching assistant to Mayo

Comes from mcvay tree. Had some stellar play designs for Seahawks . Had challenges with devising what play call to run, but play design has been stellar. Could be a case where he was a bit too raw. He could be a great offensive assistant and help van pelt design some new plays and also build the talent within . We don't lose much by hiring him. He was just a scapegoat.
His first job as an NFL coach was with the Patriots (TE coach, 2009).

Waldron had success as a passing game coordinator. I'd bring him in for an interview for a similar or lesser position with the understanding that he isn't allowed to touch play calling or the run game.
