After an afternoon of negotiations produced an agreement, Mike Shanahan signed a five-year contract to become head coach and executive vice president of football operations for the Washington Redskins.

Under the terms of the new deal, Shanahan will team with Redskins executive vice president and general manager Bruce Allen, but Shanahan will have the ultimate authority on football decisions. Shanahan will be introduced as the Redskins head coach at a 2 p.m. ET news conference Wednesday.

Daniel Snyder has extremely deep pockets...

Good.
Good for him.
Good that Belikryptonite is in the NFC.

seven million a year...i guess Denver recovers some, but that's enough money to put up with daniel snyder at his worst i guess...

...the cynic in me wonders what the really small print says, like..."Coach acknowledges that at any time Mr. Snyder may completely pull the rug out from under him and make all major decisions including the flavor of the Gatorade"

good for him...and glad he's in the nfc and not haunting us every season...

I'm also glad that he's in the NFCE, so that he can provide competition vs. the Cowpukes & Jints. I want to see those 2 lose as often as possible, unless they're playing the SD Classless, the bastards.

Any word if his son Kyle is going to join him?

Whatever gets him out of the AFC is good w/ me

Kubiak is an offensive-minded coach, so losing Shanahan shouldn't be devastating. He even had some fun wondering what the Shanahan duo will be like together.

"That's [working with his father] something Kyle's always wanted. Kyle's done an outstanding job for us . . . He's going to be a head coach in this league someday. Now he and his dad get to do battle. I'd love to be a fly on the wall."

Good for the Redskins. They need something positive down there.

Five years shows a lot of confidence in Shanahan though. Better hope it turns out.

Makes me wonder if any of BB's kids will follow their father... know the youngest one, Brian?, is always with him on the sidelines....

Good for Shanahan I think he will do well with the skins..
