New England Patriots deserve our applause - ESPN

even though he picked the browns to beat the pats this week..he gives them some props

Week after week, the spotlight seems to go everywhere except the New England Patriots.

Last week, the spotlight focused on the questions about Brett Favre, whom the Patriots managed to beat.

This week, it shined back on Randy Moss, whom the Patriots traded for a third-round pick before he could implode again.

But at some point, New England must be cited for what it has done. As impressive as the Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers have been this season in overcoming adversity, no NFL team has done a better job of winning despite losing players.

New England Pro Bowl guard Logan Mankins stayed away from the team until this week in a contract dispute, and the Patriots still have allowed only 12 sacks.

New England's top defensive end, Ty Warren, suffered a season-ending hip injury in training camp, but the Patriots still have not allowed a 100-yard rusher this season.

New England's top cornerback, Leigh Bodden, suffered a season-ending shoulder injury before the season kicked off, and the Patriots still have nine interceptions.

New England's third-down specialist, Kevin Faulk, suffered a season-ending knee injury in the second game; Moss was traded after the fourth game; and Mankins' potential replacement, Nick Kaczur, was lost to a season-ending back injury. But nothing has slowed New England. Good teams like the Patriots don't stress the importance of a single player. They stress the importance of a unit.

Indianapolis is winning without safeties Bob Sanders and Melvin Bullitt as well as tight end Dallas Clark. Green Bay is winning without running back Ryan Grant, linebacker Nick Barnett, tight end Jermichael Finley and defensive backs Al Harris, Atari Bigby and Morgan Burnett.

But at this point in the season, no team has won as often as the Patriots (6-1). New England doesn't have some of its best players, but it has football's best record.

Schefter needs to stick with breaking news about the NFL instead of analyzing it. JMO.

Hey! He forgot to mention trading away starting RB Maroney for a 4th round pick

This rings pretty hollow when you write this but pick the (2-5) Browns to beat us.

Thanks for the 1 handed clap, Schef. Kisses.

No kidding.

Thanks but no thanks, Schefter.

OK, i thought this was widespread knowledge but i guess not since its like the 8th post ive seen on schefters prediction

Schefter does NOT like to do winner picks, hes forced into it, and this season before he started he said he is NOT going to be making the likely choice, hes going to be going "rogue" and simply choosing the team that will prob lose

not sure why, but thats the reason his selection is the browns this week, im sure the other games hes chosen are wierd as well

The first part of Shefter's article is pretty good, but his logic on why the Pats will lose if flawed. If the Patriots biggest strength was their passing defense, his article would make sense. Shefter is great for his sources, but his understanding of football is severely lacking. After all this time reporting, talking to people who know their stuff, you'd think he'd have a much better understanding of the game.

his explanation
It Is What It Is Adam Schefter on D&C: Browns will upset Patriots

I actually enjoyed reading that. I thought it was refreshing. No need to trash the one guy in the media who actually has some respect for the Patriots.

Big deal that he chose the Browns this week.I believe we'll win, but they did beat the ( somewhat hobbled) Saints last week, they always play hard, and they have a pretty good defense. It's also at their place. Not to mention they have a ton of players--and coaches--who know our team well. If you're going to pick any game this season to be a trap, this is the one to pick, especially with the Pats playing in so many close games.

Stop being so sensitive. Just because he picked the underdog this week, you all have ants in your pants.

I think you will revise your opinion once you read his interview in which he explains his reasons behind the pick.

Exactly.
Look I'm a Patriots homer but let's not react over the top to anything that even seems to be critical of the Patriots.

Not only that, he goes out of his way to point out how anemic the Browns passing game is and outlines their eye-openingly low game-by-game yardage totals. Now, even the most remedial football analyst would have to point out how they offensively match up poorly with NE whose weakness is their pass defense.

Seriously, how dare you say good and essentially accurate things about the Patriots! It's way more fun to stew in your own **** and negativity rather than giving props when the team does a good job. And if you pick against us, forget about it. Sheesh. :ugh:

Since He's Anti Pats Anyway So What Ever He Says Will Always Be Negative, Him & His Boy Monkeyman Mort!

Greetings,
Also throw in ESPn's Rob Parker in the mix as well. He said he could not wait for the Patriots to loose in the playoffs to Baltimore last season, simply due to him being sick of the Patriots.
Peace,

hmm, yea, didnt realize there was more to this peace than what was in the OP....oh well

what i said is still true, just this time Schefter i guess actually believes it???
im cool with that, i wish everyone in the media would choose the browns

He is the only one to pick us against Ravens. He told he wants to go against the grain.

Yes he did. Instead of applauding the Pats, we should be applauding Schefter.
He calls 'em as he sees 'em, and he knows more about which he speaks than some of us give him credit for knowing. Besides, I've never considered him one of the true Pats Haters in the press, anyway. There are many, many more worse than he is.
