All Draftniks want a draft pick for Polo. Why?? So they can "improve depth". But apparently you don't need good depth at the most important position of all, QB.

Oh you must mean the hole you would create by trading Polo from a Super Bowl contender by not having an adequate backup QB on his 8th Superbowl campaign. One you plan on waging with a 40 year old QB, and an inadequately trained backup QB.

Please tell me the position(s) that the Pats have such a glaring hole that must be filled. Ignoring the fact that Bill has an entire set of draft picks available to fill this mystical hole.

BB is no fool, thankfully. He can ignore the Draftniks. Keep Polo !

Since you missed it, the Patriots made it a point to re-activate Brissette from the IR to get him valuable training snaps. The Patriots are extremely excited about him and believe he can be just as good as Garoppolo. That's why people believe that Garoppolo is on the trading block. Also, Garoppolo is in the last year of a deal and there are at least 3 teams who have expressed more than mild interest in him.

This would not be the first time the Pats have had "inexperienced" rookies behind Brady. Heck, this year both of them were question marks. Both proved themselves under fire.

To the Patriots, Jimmy G could be a diminishing asset whose value can be looked at either of two ways. If he is Brady's heir apparent and/or you think Brady will fall off the cliff next year, you resign Garapollo to the big money he will demand and you have $$$$$ of money tied up in the QB position for a guy who would be a backup until that happens. On the other hand if Brady can play at his level ( unworldly) for a few years and the Patriots think that he can and they are comfortable with Brisset as a backup, then you trade Jimmy G when the market is at its highest since he has one year left on a team friendly rookie deal. If you wait a year and are unwilling to franchise him, he leaves as a free agent and you are lucky to get a compensatory 3rd rounder at best in 2019,, Here you could get a 1st rounder or more depending on the market and the demand....
And if you want to trade him but you don't get value, you hold on to him in hopes of a team panicking at some point and overpaying..
It's supply and demand and all it takes is one sucker, er quarterback needy team to overpay like the Vikings did for Bradford...

I'm puttin' my money on the Bears and their #3

I think the Pats will at least have to consider what QB free agents are available to them, before trading Joe G. It wd be great if Bressette's ready to go, but a possible vet backup would need to be part of the picture.

I would like two mid round 1's and a 2 or 3 for Jimmy based purely on that Miami game..
