And not just with draft picks but a player thrown in that BB have their eye on who will blossom in NE...............

The only player I'm really interested in from the Bears is Langford.. He'd instantly become the Pats #1 RB, imho..

re-watch the first quarter of the Miami game. I was ready to dump TFB (not really, but JG was pretty much perfect in that quarter). He absolutely shredded Miami with pin point quick passes and built an insurmountable 21 point lead. I read a statistic today that NFL teams win 98.8% of the time when they have a 21 point lead. In fact I can't remember the last time a team came back from that far down (tongue firmly planted in cheek).

If I didn't think that TFB still has at least three more great years in him, I would say keep him. But he is easily the best QB available right now. If he was a FA, teams would be lining up to get him. The fact that you can trade for him and still have him under control on a cheap rookie deal, I do believe that the market for JG is going to be quite brisk.

I have come down again and again on my asking price for Jimmy but only cause Tom has looked so good and the window to get the next guy is larger than I think.

At this point my absolute bottom dollar price is the #12 and a mid 3rd or better.

This gives you a real shot at a potential franchise QB for a measly 1400 draft points.

If such a prospect where in this draft he would be no less than #2 overall pick which is 2600 (cause maybe you like the sure thing with Garrett more) and if you wanted to trade up to get him and it cost you more than 3000 points.

FYI I don't believe in the trade value chart but others do so I use it for a universal reference.

Mark my words there is going to be a bidding war for him and we're going to get way more than anyone is expecting.

and it's deserved, you can't be a consistent winner in this league without a QB.

I love TB and i want him to be a Patriot for life. I'm in the trade Jimmy G camp. I personally think Jimmy will be a great QB and a QB that can lead a team to a championship. If we had anyone but TB or Rodgers i would say keep Jimmy. There are 15-20 teams that could use him and the big 3, Browns, Niners and Bears should trade anything to get him.

Would rather have another year of insurance in case of another injury/trumped up suspension than another first rounder.

Yup if it were Chicago .. I could see an Akeim Hicks reunion.

Here's what could happen... trade for either cleveland (33), SF (34), Chi (36) plus their 1st next year. The question would be which one of these teams do you think will horrible even with JG at QB. The goal for the pats should be to get TB's replacement when he retires in 2020. From what I can see of the QB's coming out this year and next year this kid Sam Darnold seems to be the most polished, so next years number 1 would be huge. So IMO I would want a 2 this year and a 1 next year, I think its worth the gamble.

"Rather" as well. But Bill always seems to enjoy drafting players at positions that he feels bring value. In the first round - he's liked OL, DL, and a few times TE.

I read a quote from Mike Lombardi where he essentially says due to the new capped salary's of draft picks that certain offensive positions should not be taken in the first round as they don't equate to proper value.

But it's unlikely that they are willing to part with 2 picks, which Cleveland could do easily since they have two 2nd round picks as well.. Theirs and the Titans. They also have an extra 2018 pick they could toss in..

And tons of Cap Space.. close to $100,000,000 ..

I think we're getting that #12 pick. It just makes too much sense to not happen.

My super early prediction: The Pats draft OJ Howard after Bennett leaves for more money than the Pats offer.
If we are that high in the draft give me a a DL or LBer please. Maybe a CB but I still have expectations for Cy Jones.

That's why we only take a Godfather type deal.

If we use our #!2 and draft a TE i will be mad. I rather go after after a TE in later rounds (#3 or #4) and use our pick on a LB/DE. This class is so deep on TE/CB/S. We need LB/DE to pair with Flowers and HT.

Assuming HT stays ........ If Gronk is healthy TE is less of a need with Williams and Lengel coming back..both would be low $ re-signs.

Neither Williams or Lengel are strong receivers though.

Well you guys should put the Jaguars in the mix too, they got tons of cap room.

It will come down to SF, CHI, JAX, CLE, HUO. You may even add the Vikings in there incase Bridgewater doesn't play next season.

Other than that there will be a fierce competition between these teams for JG.

I think San Francisco is more likely to give us the most over the Browns.

Don't be mad, bro. SB champs 2014, AFC championship with so many injuries in 2015 (a 2 pt conversion to tie), SB champs 2016. Just be HAPPY other teams are enamoured with flash, while NE IS into winning.

All Draftniks want a draft pick for Polo. Why?? So they can "improve depth". But apparently you don't need good depth at the most important position of all, QB.

Oh you must mean the hole you would create by trading Polo from a Super Bowl contender by not having an adequate backup QB on his 8th Superbowl campaign. One you plan on waging with a 40 year old QB, and an inadequately trained backup QB.

Please tell me the position(s) that the Pats have such a glaring hole that must be filled. Ignoring the fact that Bill has an entire set of draft picks available to fill this mystical hole.

BB is no fool, thankfully. He can ignore the Draftniks. Keep Polo !

Howard was a great blocker with good hands at Alabama. Here's hoping he gets onboard the Patriots Train this spring!
