Schefter: Bill Belichick & Patriots to Part Ways

So Miami's front office should get no credit for drafting Tua and then finding an innovative offensive coach (who a lot of people laughed at the hire) after it became clear the defensive minded coach wasn't making it a priority to develop the young QB? Or any credit for surrounding him with offensive talent by drafting Waddle, getting aggressive and trading for Tyreek, and signing Raheem Mostert? All just dumb luck I guess.
I didn't say that. They had a ton of capital suddenly and they made good on it, and yeah, their coach deserves a lot of credit for all the Superbo...
Tyreek is like hitting on Randy Moss. He's that good. he's also almost done, and don't think all that much of that Miami team beyond a couple of players. they're certainly not a budding dynasty, or anything like that. They're making an interesting run with some fun innovation. Other than that, meh.

MVP is voted on by media not fans so that's pure conjecture.
???
And it was the media that was indicating that Tua was a strong option for MVP.

Tua is the AFCs version of Purdy. Good but elevated with the talent around him.

The real MVPs on their respective teams are Tyreek and CMC.

Belichick might have made the trade, but there is little chance he would have used two of the picks on Waddle and Hill.
We will agree that BB might be behind the times a bit when it comes to the way the NFL treats WRs, but that' pure conjecture.

He paid for Henry, Agholor, Smith, and Bourne. He spent a 1st-round pick on Harry. Wrong players, sure, but he was trying to get the offense going.

And it was Flores who drafted Tua, wasn't it?

Class act and love seeing the press conference go the way it did. Love Bill but it was the right move.
Agree. Short n sweet. All the love and fan appreciation can come when hes done coaching.

Correct and that is why Tyreek and CMC are higher in projected MVP voting than Tua (not on the list at all) and Purdy (#8ish).

Oh you mean it's possible Belichick wants stellar WRs? (sarcasm)

The thing about these innovative offenses is that they really are just rediscovering past offenses. Miami's offense looks a lot like Kurt Warner and the 2000 Rams. All based on timing. Sure there are wrinkles when it comes to movement in the backfield and RPO, but at the snap it's quite similar.

There's very little new under the sun. Most of it is just coaching: getting enough buy-in to have players practice hard and to get the details down.

Heck, Woody was on this morning talking about how Belichick thought the team was out of shape when he took over. And Woody said they were, including him. Who let's a team get out of shape? (a great coach like Carroll)

and like the rams, in january, when it counts, good defenses will find a way to beat them.....physically and on the scoreboard

Kraft said they considered keeping him only as HC and decided it wouldn't work.

Kraft fired Bill.

Right now I feel less confident in the Pats’ future than I did when I woke up this morning.
Having the drunk owner firing a 6x Superbowl winning coach then immediately confusing the press conference for a celebration doesn't give you confidence?

Kraft is being polite but has basically said that he fired him. Avoided questions about whether Bill wanted to stay, what went wrong the last few years. Could barely answer what he learnt from Bill. It seems pretty clear Bill pitched to stay and he rejected it.

Belichick will move to Atlanta . Josh will follow him there. They will trade for justin fields and get brissett ad backup.

They should easily win the division for next 2 years. Win win

I expect Mayo or Vrabel to get the most out of a rookie QB. Or should we give Mac another year under one of these two to see how if either of their offensive genius can produce results with him?

Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? BB will be back for his Pats HoF ceremony and statue unveiling.
Not really but there were a lot of posters here saying that would be their preference and promoting this as the solution. I knew it wouldn't work. Not with Bill. I'm glad Kraft agreed.

At the end of the day, Bill couldn't deliver what Kraft wanted, wins, playoff wins. Bill's performance is what did him in, which is telling. Many doubted Kraft had the balls to fire Bill. He did just that.
