SC WR Alshon Jeffery rumor

I have yet to see a single credible source ever question his character or work ethic, and believe me I've looked. When everyone started criticizing him, I looked to see where it was coming from and I couldn't find a single thing, apart from that infamous photo taken well before the season started. I would like to think of myself as quite an objective person, and I don't blindly love the guys I like, so trust me I understand Alshons flaws. But I'm also not a sheep and I don't just follow what others say about a player. I like to watch them and form my own opinions, and if I feel a player is unjustly criticized, I will justify my position. I've watched well over a dozen South Carolina games over the last 2 years, and i feel i have a pretty good read on the guy, so when people say things that have no factual basis whatsoever (like he is a diva), then I feel I have to say something. But like I said, if anyone can actually show me some evidence of these things, I'll happily listen.

Well that's good enough for me. He still has to run the 40 for me to even think about being interested. He looked glacier slow this year.

But the fact remains that he comes from an offense of running to positions versus running actual routes. He could take two to three (possibly never) years before he's up to speed on our offense. Brady only has 3-5 years left at most.

This could be true, and limited route experience is a concern. Whether he would fit here comes down to personal opinion, and I'm not trying to debate opinions. If we disagree, that's cool with me. My issue in this thread is simply people stating/believing things that are factually incorrect, and that's what I'm trying too clear up. If people have issues with his route running or ability to seperate, that's fine, they are entitled to their opinion.

I'm not taking a position, one way or another, but I was at the Deli, today, and saw AJ:

Just sayin'!!

Miley and I hooked up with AJ, earlier...His "40" time MIGHT be a bit sluggish...

Just SAYIN'!!

That hurts Grid, it really does. I'm trying to disprove that this guy has character issues, and you go and accuse him of being friends with Miley Cyrus. That's a low blow :nono:

I feel like the perfect comparison to Alshon Jeffery is Brandon Marshall.

- Great athletes
- Fight their asses off for balls
- Still manages to drop balls
- Disappears for long stretches at a time

I think the Brandon Marshall comparison is a decent one, but I completely disagree with the drop balls comment. I think Jeffery has by far the best hands in the draft, and will probably be top 5 in the NFL when he enters the league. In 2010 I believe he only dropped 1 pass, and I didn't see him drop many last season either. His hands are probably his best asset, because they really are elite.

Alshon Jeffrey is being Mallet-ed. This from Tony Pauline:

- Speaking of receivers, a handful of scouts told us tonight they were less than impressed the interviews they had with South Carolina receiver Alshon Jeffery.
Like Mallett last year, there's the constant drip drip of negative stories Of course, Jeffrey isn't helping himself by not running the 40.

Say goodbye to your Day 2 prospects Alshon. Either the kid or his advisor is a total d*ckhead.

This is a great development. Hopefully he will fall like a stone. I don't see how this guy's floor is any lower than Oronde Gadsden. Tape don't lie. He catches everything near him.

Here is a link to the game**** board talking about him. He has amazing hands and body control, anything near him he catches. The weight rumor all started at the preseason SI cover where he was wearing our new under armor jerseys that were crazy tight.after that pick they gave us new jerseys that wern't so tight. He isn't a burner but it amazing he was able to catch anything with being double covered and having Steve garcia as his qb until halfway through this year. Did you watch the end of the first half of the Capitol one bowl. He is a beast

The good thing is he weighed in officially at 216. A far cry from the rumored 249 just 2 or 3 weeks ago. He has either got one hell of a dietician or the rumors are completely false.

Dissapointed he didn't run at the combine like every one else so I guess we'll just wait until his pro day. I say if he runs a 4.65 or below and drills well he will put himself atleast back into the high 2nd round if not first.

40 yard dashes are glamorous measurments and fun to watch. It's kind of funny what their original purpose was for though. For measuring specials team players. The distance for kickoff was 40 yards and the coaches wanted players to be able to run down the field after the ball was kicked off and tackle the returner as he received the ball. So coaches who were working players out and had a need at special teams would ask these players to run 40 yards as fast as they can.

I really dig this South Carolina team, but the ASTONISHING hideousness of naming their team the freaking "GameCocks", of all freaking things, blows my freaking MIND. Of ALL the possible names in the GALAXY, they name them the freaking GAMECOCKS???

I mean, they could've named their team the South Carolina Damp SPONGES, and it would strike more FEAR into the hearts of their rivals than "the South Carolina GAMECOCKS", for Christ's sake...

Any relation to The Vicious Chicken of Bristol???

Remarkable!! Turns out that this GOD awful nickname is an homage to none other than Thomas Sumter, himself, that intensely BAD @$$ Revolutionary South Carolinian who tore the HELL out'f the British, lived to be 98 years old, and, of course, had named after'm that Fort which would prove to be the trigger point of the Civil War!!

HE was called "The Carolina GameCock", after a pretty bad @$$ fighting ROOSTER!!

STILL an awful name, though!!

Alshon Jeffery didn't run a single drill today. I had him falling in the 1st as it was with questions over his route tree knowledge, reading coverages etc...not only that he struggles to really get any true separation at the college level...so he's going to struggle potentially at NFL level.

I don't know if there was some kind of injury or not, but I think this guy is worried about hurting his stock. By running the 40 at his pro day he gets to run on an athletics track which are faster surfaces and it gives him more time.

I'm willing to bet he wasn't ready for this at all...and it is one big bottle job. Second round prospect at best. i agree with Mayock.

Mayock put it this way - big and fast is good. big and slow is bad.

And check out the pic. Jeffery is on the far left in Jersey 1. A little scary...

Then again a lot of people talked crap about Anquan Boldin when he came out saying he was too slow. It didn't seem to bother his game much.

Some even predict that AJ will fail. And here's their take.

Who is he going to replace Matt Light??? he looks like a Tackle...I'll pass.

Seriously after that picture he is going undrafted!

Seriously after that picture he is going undrafted!

this should seriously go in the worst posts ever hall of fame. Whether he goes UDFA or not the simple logic of the statement "seriously after that picture he is going undrafted" is just pure ridiculous logic.

You are trying to say that a picture taken (reportedly) before the season where he looks like he could have a bigger belly than you thought should be the deciding factor in if he is an NFL WR... what a post
