SC WR Alshon Jeffery rumor

Watching some of his highlights, he reminds me of Brandon Marshall.

He definately looks talented. Not a lot of seperation, but uses his size well. If we don't go after a FA WR I could see Bill using a 2nd rounder on him, as long as he does well at the combine.

If he looks good at the combine, there is no way he lasts until the second round. He was considered an elite wr prospect going into the year. South Carolina had significant QB issues this year.

Mayock put it this way - big and fast is good. big and slow is bad.

Mayock: Alshon Jeffery not worth a first-round pick | ProFootballTalk

And check out the pic. Jeffery is on the far left in Jersey 1. A little scary...

Then again a lot of people talked crap about Anquan Boldin when he came out saying he was too slow. It didn't seem to bother his game much.

Some even predict that AJ will fail. And here's their take.
2012 NFL Draft: Why Alshon Jeffery Is Destined to Be a Bust | Bleacher Report

He's seriously Mike Williams (USC) part two, without the miraculous comeback season. If he wants to add 40-50 more pounds we might have a spot at DT for him.

Hope the rest of the league is as naive as those posting about Jeffries. This guy may be the best WR on the board. He destroyed the best CB in the SEC and Photoshop is a wonderful tool. They should have made him look smaller and fatter. Being doubled every play has a lot to do with separation. Blackmon played video game football in a conference with weak CBs. I seem to remember that Mr. Jeffries mashed Janoris Jenkins, Dre Kirkpatrick, Alfonzo Dennard and Safety Mark Barron, all of which we hope to get one or more of in this Draft. I invite you to look at the tape. Jeffries fights for the ball better than any WR in the class (shhhh!).
It also would help if Carolina had a QB during his years there.
Let's keep talking it up I think he's gonna run a 5.2 40 and he is 275lbs and smokes herbius weedius between his crappy routes. I think he might get passed over in the Draft and make it hard for someone to even consider him a UDFA. I also found out he is only 5'8" in comparison to Deion Branch at his 6'1" stature.Cool plan eh?
Bad news, he'll be a first rounder.

A little extreme there buddy. I look forward to you being wrong.

Jeffery looks like a 2nd rounder right now unless he can blaze a 4.4 at the combine. BTW the really tall dude in the picture that makes everyone look short is Devin Taylor, a 6'7 260 lb defensive end.

Taylor was a late 1st round pick/ early 2nd in the 1st mock draft i posted wayyyy back during the season.

I really likes his measurables for the pats. He didn't perform as well as i would have hoped this year but we'll see

I doubt he mashed Jenkins since he had a quiet game against Florida in 2009 (6 catches, 57 yards, 9.5 YPC) and one of his worst games in 2010 (6 catches, 53 yards, 8.8 YPC). Here is also a video of Jenkins and Jeffery going at each other - YouTube - Alshon Jeffery vs. Janoris Jenkins (2010) . I don't see how Jeffery mashed Jenkins. He made some catches using his size aganist a much smaller cornerback, but Jenkins was almost always in his hip pocket and also held his own in press against a much bigger receiver.

Now I agree that Jeffery got the better of Barron and Kirkpatrick in 2010. His one-handed catch against Kirkpatrick was really sick. Kirkpatrick had great coverage but sometimes that's just not enough. He also exposed Dennard as a cornerback who struggles to turn and run with receivers down the field. Dennard is great when he can press his guy and keep the play in front of him. But you don't want him to turn and run with a deep threat receiver like Jeffery.

According to CBS Sports they say this guy can have a game weight of about 250 lbs and an embarrassing straight line speed in kit.

I also worry about this guy's route running capability. South Carolina aren't known for a great passing game. His overall route running is terrible. I don't see this guy being a good Patriots fit myself.

You guys really do believe everything you read.

It's humorous to watch.

Heh!! The Unintentional Humor reading on you laughing at anyone, Junior, is through the ROOF!!

VERY interesting find there, he looks like this years Joe Webb. He might have potential as a DE, but I could easily see him as a TE or manybe even an OT project.

He's no "find", Brother Snake.

Devin Taylor was an extremely popular Pick in the early going, around here.

And he's been on my 2013 Hot List for awhile.

Fair enough but do remember, every one of those DB's are a first round selection. Carolina has not had a decent QB for years. Stephen Garcia was inconsistent at best and finally thrown off the Team. I saw Jenkins play Jeffries. If I recall South Carolina won that game, in fact smoked the Gators and did not Jenkins have over the top help? Jeffries was not a real need that day. It was Lattimore. Check this out about Jenkins. Look at 2:22 and 3:42
Alshon Jeffery-Human Highlight Reel - YouTube

I see effortless and smooth, not slow. I see some pretty good pro moves for separation. I hope all the other Teams see him as fat and slow. At almost 20 yards per catch he must take the bus or trolley to run his routes. Closest I see to him in the pros is Colson and he is pretty good.

Well, he's certainly been under my radar. I'm fascinated with these athletic freaks without a position, I'm thinking about all the things a creative coach can do with guys like Jameson Konz, Joe Webb, Michael Jasper, and this Taylor fella.

What rounds do you think he lands in?

Coming into the season he was a potential top 15 pick, but he was a bit disappointing this year. He was overshadowed by his teammates Melvin Ingram and Clowney and really didn't produce as expected. If he had of declared this year he probably would have been a late 2nd round pick. I said late in the season he should stay in school to physically mature and improve as a pass rusher, but the potential is certainly there. He has great size and athleticism, and he is one of the rare OLB prospects to occasionally drop back into coverage. I think he will have a huge 2012 season and will likely be out of range of the Pats, possibly even top 10.

I'm afraid I am all too inclined to agree with Brother Wilfork, Brother Snake.

Hopefully, he gets double teamed into the DIRT all year ~ without sustaining injury or wear, of course!! ~ doesn't get a single Sack, and drops to the 3rd or 4th!!

Everybody needs to remember that the Spurrier passing game is the exact opposite of the Patriots.

In the Spurrier passing game, the QB throws to a spot and it is the WR's job to be there. The WR has no other option, all he can do is run to that spot.

No reading or thinking involved.
