SBB's TC 2013 Day One (Friday July 26)

I sat in the rain also and took it in, great to have camp under way.

I thought Dobson and DA both looked really solid. I didn't see one drop from either of these two in both the 7v7 and 11v11s. Dobson looked fluid outside and inside the hashes. His size is a refreshing change and he appears very cerebral with his routes which will go a long way with TB.

DA was outstanding, hands of glue and lightning, cat-like quickness in and out of his cuts in all the drills and scrimmages, this kid is in for a monster year in this offense.

Both Ballard and Sudfeld were also impressive, both displayed solid hands and both are huge targets. Sud also looked good in KO return assignments.

Leon Washington to me also looked really good on his KRs. Ghost consistently put his KOs 3 to 5 yards deep on his kicks and Leon looked explosive hitting the seams on his returns. Plus it was great to see him run all of his returns all the way to the end zone on full throttle instead of pulling up early. This seasoned vet is showing the kids his heart and that will translate well.

Ridley also looked better and fluid in the screen game, he's definitely improved in that area you could really see it in the 11s.

I'll be there tomorrow to focus on the D, today was offense and ST for me.

Another question...

Did you see Adrian Wilson beaten by Ballard? If so, did it look like a product of Wilson simply being out of position (new scheme) or did Wilson get straight-up beaten?

First I dont think I mentioned it but I liked what I saw out of Ballard.

I believe the play you are referring to was a 10 yard crossing route from Ballard that he then turned up field on late. I think the coverage on the crossing route was decent but Ballard turned up field and Ballard got a step on him. To be honest at the time I didnt think about who he beat as I was happy to see Ballard make a nice play. I think one could wonder if this was a TC completion that might not happen with full contact as it wasnt the fastest completion.

Ballard had at least one other sweet play and probably a couple other catches too so I might not have broke down the same play you were thinking of.

Two things I saw in Yates' notes that I forgot to mention.

Edner had a nice pick on a poorly thrown ball from tebow and sorely run route from the receiver I think it was simms???

and

Cannon got some team 1 reps at RG and I didnt see any obvious flaws.

Thanks Riddler ! Great stuff. I know it's too early to get excited about rookie performances without pads and hitting, but the reports about our first 2 draft choices are making me happy.

Awesome stuff SBB! Excited about DA and Dobson. If they and Ballard come as good as advertised this offense can still be pretty damn good.

Thank you for sharing, and thanks to Riddler as well great observations on both ends

So Adrian Wilson is in the "starting" nickel group, playing deep? That's interesting.
