If you are interested at all in what situation teams are in with respect to cap space going into 2006, this is a very interesting summary.

Cleveland seems to have the most cap space free. Plus our ex-coaches to ply our new FAs with contracts above their value to us.

Otherwise, very satisfying that ... of the teams we care at all about ... only Buffalo is better off than we are (by about 10 mil).

Colts are even ... and have some high-priced FAs coming up.

Phins, Jets, Chiefs, Broncs, Steelers ... all are squeezed worse than this estimate has us being squeezed. (Heaven help Eric! ... down 29 mil)

The Patriots have done such a fantastic job picking late in the draft every year that they haven't had to rely on overpaying free agents. Bill Belichick also seems to have a nose for knowing when to release his high priced veterans at just the right time.
