This isn't exact but it gives an idea of the cost of first round draft picks, expect these numbers to increase for 2008.

It shows clearly the very high cost of the top 10 or picks.

Incredible. We've got to trade back to nine or ten - add a second this year and a second next year.

This was such a good post I had to track it down and look at it again...

I know it won't happen, but id rather sign samuel or a high priced free agent like Lance Briggs, who are proven entities then fork over 30million to an unproven player. Sign the vets and then trade out of the first, grab an extra second etc, and go from there.

How the hell did Levi Brown end up making more money than the #1 overall pick? Are you sure that's not a typo?

It could be a typo, feel free to track it down. I just went off of the RotoWorld.com site:
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4185

USAToday agrees
http://www.usatoday.com/_ads/inters...oday.com/community/utils/idmap/29415278.story

Key word is could, but still I think this is a bigger number than Tom Brady got.
"The six-year contract could be worth up to $62 million"

I would rather trade the pick for a veteran, even an expensive veteran is a better value than an unproven rookie.
