Yep. I think the Wolf bashing is way off the mark.
The NEP are so f-ed up. Dysfunction is abound. BB leaves and creates this big power vacuum. All kinds of people are clamoring for power.

When Tedy talked about how some people need to STFU, based on Vrabes comments it seems some MAY have been squelching Wolf?

Remember he use to call Ian at home and complain. You know your special when you can do that.

I had no idea he did that! Holy ****, he was “really something,” trying my best to not speak ill of the departed.

Think the power structure will be
#1 Vrabel
#2A Cowden
#2B Wolf
Rest to be determined..

I honestly don’t know who he was talking about, but I think your take on the power vacuum is pretty accurate. I don’t see Wolf as a power hungry guy, and I think he will be happy to advise Vrabel and help him find the guys he wants. And on draft day I don’t see him overruling Vrabel on any pick, I think he sees it as Vrabel’s team, and his job is to help him succeed.

Wolf is known around the league as a guy you can work with. Paraphrasing here but Vrabel sounded like he was open to working with him (see keeping him)

Keeping Wolf provides a shield for Vrabel. There's no other way to make sense of it at this point.

Id have Groh do contracts. He has a law degree from Princeton. Wolf is a scout at heart.

Good point. I wasn’t aware of that. Agree on Wolf, he’s been handling scouting reports since he was 14. He’s been immersed in it his entire life, just as Belichick was immersed in coaching since he was a kid.

The fact these guys can make so called "lateral moves" or work in more or less the same position minus the title, and skirt certain requirements makes the whole damn thing absurd. What's to stop them from creating some new position with some unrelated title to poach an OC and having essentially 2 OC on their team? Not complaining about any of the processes, but just really find it amusing since the NYFL cares so much about "integrity". In regards to what you said about VP of Player Personnel vs Executive VP above.....how do they know some team isn't doing just that? How do they know that 2 different dudes aren't doing the same thing? lol laughable.....
Too bad the NFL owners didn't employ the Rooney Rule or something like it when Goodell was picked as commissioner.

Wolf has been around NFL front offices his entire life, he will have no trouble adapting.

I have no doubt of that. I think right now things are in a state of flux and they'll work themselves out in fairly sort order.

Why are there so many Wolf advocates here? He was just as terrible at his job as Mayo, possibly worse. If Belichick had made the picks Wolf made, everyone would be up in arms.
I don't think it's advocating for Wolf as much as trying to work through what the plan seems to be.
