I'm more interested in the Mankins rumblings. Cannot believe the Cowboys, Bears and two or three other teams haven't been begging the Pats for a chance at contacting Mankins and striking a deal...

I figure that a contending team which allows 9 sacks in one half and had two QBs knocked out of the game ought to be a bit desperate. A 2012 first rounder ought to do it....

Would love to steal a pick from the Boys who are looking rather awful this year. I know they aren't going to ship any useful players our way. But a 2nd or 3rd round pick for Mankins would be wonderful.
The problem is that Mankins serves as Neal insurance for us. It would need to be a good pick to make it worth taking the risk.

the jets' win on monday night may have made the pats think a little bit more about adding someone else to the roster. The jets schedule looks doable the rest of the way - maybe 1 or 2 more losses. I expect them to go 13-3 or so. Maybe Tate isn't ready to be the number 3 receiver? that's what a trade for another WR would signify.

I think the easy schedule/hard schedule may be overstated. Teams within a division have identical schedules, with the exception of two games. Pats and Jets have played each other, the Bills and Miami. Jets have lost to the Ravens, Pats have beaten the Bengals. Jets have beaten the Vikings, who are not looking nearly as formidable right now as they did before the season started. I just don't see a significant difference between the Jets schedule and the Pats schedule.

The rest I can understand the logic to, even though I disagree. Tate becomes the split end, Branch the flanker, Edelman is available as a backup to Branch and Welker; and even before the trades there were more 2TE sets and passes to the tight ends than in the past - I would expect that to continue. If there were to be a significant trade, it would be on the defensive side of the ball rather than at WR in my opinion.

Anyone who things Price has even a slight chance of contributing this year is nuts. The earliest I'd expect any impact from him is end of year 2. He essentially was a blocker in college, coming from a system that couldn't be more different from the NFL. He's practically learning a new position. Great tools, but justness no idea how to play nfl wr right now.

I am a FANATICAL supporter of Logan Mankins, even while lambasting his HIDEOUSLY stupid current position on things...

Given my druthers, we'd pull'm back in, hugs and reconciliation all around.
