Rumor: Tom Brady suffered a setback recently

For those who doubt Mike did say this, you can visit mikefrancesa.com.
I think we believe he said it. Many of us are simply wary of :

- His track record.
- The significance even if it is true.
- The conclusion by the OP that we can't trade Cassel in the unlikely event it was a major setback.

I know that all he does is attack people for his opinions and he acts like a cry baby when he doesn't get his way.

No. I don't attack people for my opinions. I "attack" people who lie, grossly exaggerate, or just plain post stupidity on a regular basis.

Instead of lying, how about you get some facts behind you? Or can't you be bothered to do that?

nobody rips me apart. they try to, actually. i probably should have clarified that. i have come to the realization that people on this board really need to look and the mirror for a reality check. its funny though. ive been gone for about 4 or so hours and i come back and there is a battle royale going on.

peopel are entitled to their opinion and until people stop attacking other people's opinoins i will continue to call them out. Hence I call DaBruinz DaPatsNazi. and just to clarify. when i originally came up with that about 1 month ago or so, I noted that I compared him to the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld, not an actually German Nazi. So, if there is any problem with that, I apologized then, and I will do so again, just let me know.

You've been ripped apart by numerous people for your ill-thought out posts. Not just by me. But, of course, people like you just focus on one person because I tend to be more vocal.

Yes, You are entitled to your opinion. But what you forget is that you are also entitled to any repercussions that stem from voicing that opinion. That is the other edge of the 1st Amendment sword. But people like you whine and complain because you don't understand that. Because you think that you can just spout off without being taken to task for it. And you prove, again, that you don't think that you have to be.

You are the one in need of the reality check. Because you are the one who was taken to task in this thread for spouting off the way you did.

Again I dont know how Francessa had the time to put that in the show, Like I said I have to listen to him since nothing else on talk radio during the day.. He has been busy the last 2 weeks, including super bowl week , with the stupid torre book.. Now if he heard it at the super bowl, so be it, but nobody else in the media has said he had a set back except for Curren who said it in jan, which has been rebutted.. Brady is a sensitive subject, but Francessa gets his info from fourth sources.. He used to be real good with the dog,but like the Rolling Stones, never could do a solo record..

Mike Francessa reported on 660 WFAN New York today at around 1:05pm that he was told Brady suffered another setback earlier this week. He said that doctors are the ones who told him this. I have been trying to find other sources to confirm this, but have not found any. He did not say what type of setback, or how severe a setback he suffered if he did in fact re-injure himself.

It is clear to me now, that there is no way we are letting Cassel walk. I said it a few weeks ago and got ripped apart, but if this is true, it is obvious Cassel will be on our roster.

Typical of some people on this site. You want to be the first to post the news, so you run with it...OH...wait, it's not news at all.

IT'S A ............... RUMOR!

Guess what folks? We give the media a hard time and say they need to be responsible and so do we. So here we are on Patsfans.com just spreading rumors and yak, yak, yakking about nothing.

I wonder if some jokers have made phone callse to dig up more info. You know, kinda the like they did when the Randy Moss RUMOR came out last years.....c'mon folks, WAKE UP!

Re: Rumor: Tom Brady Suffered a Setback recently

I'm sure he'll feel much better once Cassel's trade is finished.

It's a shame that this is too subtle a post for more of the post-happy bunnies on this site to get.

We're going to hear mixed reports about Brady for a while now because it gives the Patriots a few advantages in trading Cassel. They can demand higher compensation.

You said a mouth full Forni!

JI has been running with this since last week:

TOM BRADY-Staph Infection (unverified rumor) - Jets Insider.com Forums

FWIW, which is probably little.

Well, apparently the surgery was done on the beach in Mexico. There are pictures of Brady frolicking with Giselle on the beaches of Mexico last week. If Brady had a staph infection that required surgery that would end his 2009 season, he would not have been able to go to Mexico.

Of course now, the Jets fans are using this thread to prove this BS story is true.

If Brady had surgery that was ending his 2009 season that was known enough that some random person on the Jets Insider board knew about it, you would think at least someone in the media would have found out. Funny since both Michael Smith's and the Globe's report about Brady being back on track came out after this rumor.

Look buddy, you can trust common sense and all publicly disclosed information or you can trust a random guy on Jets Insider. I, for one, feel safer with the latter.

You're right. Forgive me for my ignorance. I did hear this guy did break great stories like "Favre sucks, we should have kept Pennington" and "Mangini get that donut out of your mouth and get your head in the game". Why would we doubt this rumor with that track record.

That guy on JI must be right. He has a source!

Allow me to quote one sentence:

"All I will say is that he has developed a staph infection and his football career is the least of his worries right now."

Apparently, his biggest concerns would be what he's going to have Gisele feed him, and avoiding sunburn.

has anyone on any local Boston station even mentioned this?

Are you kidding me? If I was told that I had a staph infection and that I may actually lose my leg, my first reaction would be that I will deal with it when I get back from my Mexican vacation with my supermodel girlfriend. Isn't that the typical reaction to this type of news?

I do think it is funny that some of the Jets fans still believe the rumor even after they posted pictures of Brady in Mexico.

I was talking to one of the red bull girls who drive around in the minis.......she said she rubbed tom brady's knee and that it felt good

Well, he was in Mexico, on vacation..... maybe they're just misspelling "staff".
:confused2:

You know what else is funny about that thread on Jets Insider. They are mocking us because several people in this thread stated that they didn't believe that Francesca said anything significant on the radio because they weren't talking about it on Jets Insider and used that thread as proof that those Pats fans are "idiots" except that thread doesn't prove anyone wrong. That thread had nothing to do with what Francesca said and in fact they only references to what Francesca said were links to this thread. So the only reference to the Francesca story on the Jets Insider is this thread, not someone with a first hand account of listening to Francesca. Some Jets fans are too stupid for words.

From Dirstar over there:

Pats fans are dumber than even i ever thought:

"WFAN = one of New York's two main sports stations (the other being ESPN 1050). Francesa is their lead guy (he has a Sunday night show on NY's NBC station).

That said, with all due respect to the OP, I'm not buying this, for two reasons:
(1) Why aren't they talking about this over on JESTInsider.com? They should be positively salivating.
"

so, if the rumor isn't being discussed here at JI, then it MUST BE bull****??? lol.

and since this rumor WAS being talked about, does it make it true??? more lolz.

This is the intelligence of the Jets posters. They don't understand that they are two unrelated rumors unless Francesca got his information from that thread. Then it is stupid to even give weight to the rumor in the first place.

Also, I do think it is funny that they 100% believe Francesca (eventhough I am not sure they even heard what he said other than reading this thread and even by those accounts, he didn't say much) and they dismiss John Dennis saying on WEEI this morning that his sources close to Brady says he is back on track, doing full workouts, and putting back on weight as "company line that we've all been fed the last 3 weeks".
