It is what it is. Would prefer if Fitz wasn't re-signed, but I'll still root for him if he is.

And while there are a bunch of Jet fans who do want to re-sign Fitz... doubt many would care much if he's not. We are talking about an 11 year vet who's never made the playoffs or even won 6 games before last season.

Probably why Macc has had the same offer out there for months, letting him dangle out in free agency this whole time. He decided on a value for Fitz and he can take it or leave it. I'd imagine if he is gonna take it though, it should be in the next 2 weeks. Once camp starts, I'm sure Macc will begin looking to sign some other vet to backup Geno. Someone who has at least taken an NFL snap before. Cause gotta figure he'll need at least a few weeks to prepare.

It's 5.7 added to the 3.4 that was there already. The 15.7 franchise tag hit dropped to 10mil.

Even heard one report saying the cap hit is lower than 10 from nj.com. Says it frees up 7.5mil instead of 5.7.

Regardless it's definitely possible now to take the 8mil cap hit for Fitz if he's gonna sign.

Still have to sign our 1st rounder Lee (figure 2mil hit), but it's not hard to free up a couple more mil if needed with a restructure.

Again, hope they don't though. He's not worth it.
