Breaking New England Patriots Team News
We're better than last year but that is a tough schedule. Each week will be a dogfight. Nobody's clearly better than us except perhaps Seattle, but unlike last year there's many that are at our level, 50-50 games.

40,
Our toughest opponent will be right in our division in Buffalo. Josh Allen in my opinion is the best QB in the league and creates a match up nightmare for defenses. I'll always give respect to Buffalo solely because of Allen.

KC?
I'll take Mahomes playing on one leg.. Will he be playing even?

Denver?
Their defense is the best part of thier team and I'll gladly take Nix on a bad wheel even with Waddle. Will nix even be playing?

Chicago?
Under Ben Johnson they were better but still underachievers i still believe that with that roster they should have been in the superbowl of NFC championship last year.

Miami?
the south Florida weather will be the toughest part about facing them in Miami this season...

Jets?..
same scenario.. their 2 best players are Wilson and Hall..

Green bay?..
they tease you.. another talented offense that can score but love it often injured and seems they can't get over the NFC hump..

Last Vegas?..
we owe Brady 1 and I'm so sure Vrabel and Josh would love some get back!

Chargers?
Ok they probably want one back.. they loss to us in the playoffs.. but I don't see them as a threat..

Detroit?
Talented offense. However I'll take Vrabel over dan Campbell in a coaching match up any day!

Minnesota?
give me one of either Murray or McCarthy either way Jefferson isn't getting the ball.

Giants?
Will be better.. however I still like us.

Seattle?
So glad this game is at Seattle.. we will have this game circled.. The offense line owes the Hawks this.. perfect game to get up on them and bully them with the running game. Also no Kenny walker so Darnold won't have him to lean on.. and Charbonet is recovering from an ACL.

Steelers?
Mike McCarthy is all I have to say..

Jags?
Yeah they are a real threat in the AFC so I can see us losing a close one here.. they have a lot of fire power on offense.

I'm saying all this to say.. the schedule meaning traveling specifically is more daunting then who we face.

Here is our first look at the Pats rookies as people.

I liked Crownover, seems like a very bright guy like we saw with Wilson last year.

Good stuff from Morten. He seems like less of the throwaway pick that I originally thought.

He said his shoulder feels the best he has felt since HS, and from reports from the short looks the media got, it seems he has some zip on the ball.

Maybe the Pats stole one here because he had a lot of injuries in college that affected his throwing.

Health it the main thing here. You don't have Health it won't matter who you see on the schedule because you won't be at a fair advantage. I'm a firm believer in the NFL starters are starters for a reason and reserves are the same respectively.
Agreed.
I don't buy the schedule Wozzy.. we've supposedly had "tough" schedules" many times before and those years we've made or won superbowls.

Barring any major health issues the team had alot from the foundational year to build off. It takes at least a season with a new coach and staff for players to really get into reaching thier full potential.
This is why I was very specific with my words, the overall regular season record could be worse but the team could be better.

This is also why I said we have to wait to view the teams we’ll play this season and where they sit when we play them. I judge strength of schedule in real-time and after the season ends.
You have the 2 singular most important elements of HC& QB.. that's first foremost. We've seen what the success brought when we had the HC &QB for 18 seasons.. and we've seen what happens when you don't! So everything else is building up the team to make up the 2026 patiots and beyond to be perennial contenders.
I have faith in Vrabel and this coaching staff.

I am optimistic Drake will get smarter, understand opposing defenses better. But I want to see it happen. Bledsoe had all the talent and potential in the world, but he never became an extremely efficient game manager the way Brady did.

Agreed here. On drake most definitely he'll be better and it's really even hard to imagine the guy led the league in completion %, and was an MVP candidate can get better but I'm sure he'd admit he could be better in certain areas..

The running game I can't stress enough will allow drake to sit back in play action like Brady did often with C. Dillon.. rham is that type of big back that with a better offense line, a real Full back and a meat head type blocking TE should be able to push the pile. On the teams we play see my post reply to @40yrpatsfan

Let me know...

I believe the next session open to the media is the start of OTA's on Wednesday the 27th May

Agree. Morton seems to have a confidence and intelligence about him. If he becomes a very good, reliable back up he will have been well worth the pick.

The main guys are Barmore, Williams, Farmer, Durden, Gregory. Taylor and blye provided we don't add a veteran wich see Wozzy's post regarding adding a veteran like Wilkerson.. if that should happen then the whole rotation changes! To answer your question because all these guys have already been here in the system they all will project to be better simply by being more comfortable knowing thier roles and a full understanding of Kurhs system.
Are you really saying that we are better off with Taylor or Blay instead of Tonga?

I do understand the position of others that neither is likely to make the roster and that we will go with 5 DL's. In that case, is Gregpry likely to be an improvement over Tonga?

Yes, we sort of "stole" Morten (and RB Miller and STer Hutchins).

What we really did was to use the 7th Round to lock in UDFA's without competing for their services.

[We also did that in the 5th, but that is another discussion].

I think the Bills, Broncos, Packers, Bears, Jags, Chargers, and Hawks are all peers who are very capable of beating us. KC & Lions aren’t slouches either. I don't see a 13-14 win season tbh. But we'll be a better team than last year.

Do you know if Jacas or Lomu have signed thier contracts??
Lomu and Jacas are the only two Pats Draft Picks that are unsigned.

I mentioned this yesterday in this thread.

Any given Sunday. If the Patriots are healthy they have a competitive advantage each week against any opponent. For me it's not a matter of opponents it's always going to be about the patiots and what they do. They will have added advantages by having essentially 3 head coaches on the staff obviously Vrabel, Josh and Marrone. Not many teams can say this.

What we know is Tonga played well here.. could it have been the presence or Barmore and Williams? We know he was a force in the middle and held his ground. This is where I'll continue to stress how depth helps us.. the team wanted Tonga and he wanted to remember. Unfortunately they couldn't agree on a extension. So Vrabel's thinking is likely look we drafted Farmer last season and we believe he can have more opportunities to play and he's on a rookie deal. As Wozzy mentioned we should be targeted another Guy as well to round out dept.. Wilkerson would be great!

Maybe Vrabel doesn't treasure the big clogger in the middle and wants everyone to pressure the pocket and let the LB take the middle.
I dunno. seems like he's been clogging the middle and pressuring the pocket for some time now.
