Ray the Caretaker Berry ahead of Fairbanks? No way.

Like Fairbanks before him, one of Meyer's assets was his in-depth, personal knowledge of college players he had scouted and recruited. No coincidence then that the best drafts the Pats ever had were those that immediately followed their arrival in Foxborough.

Yea I didn't put too much thought in the rankings after BB. Fairbanks was an elite personnel guy. Hes ahead of Berry no question. I might put Tuna ahead of Fairbanks overall but as a NEP coach and argument can be made for Fairbanks > Tuna

When Meyer was fired it was somewhat controversial. It was (and still is) very unusual for a coach with a winning record to be fired. The Pats were 5-3 when he was let go and replaced by Raymond Berry.

He got some revenge when the Colts hired him a couple years later. Meyer took over a zero-win Indy team and won each of the final three games of that season. The following year his Colts won the AFC East by one game over the Patriots.

A bit of trivia. The Patriots have fired not one, but two head coaches who never had a losing season with the Pats: Meyer and Pete Carroll.
I think Scar is undefeated as Pats' interim head coach...

The legend is it was Hannah going to Patty Sullivan which got him fired.

RIP
Can't forget Hog chasing Meyer around the sidelines of the stadium one practice.

Apparently Ron could run, because afterwards he was still alive.

Ron inherited a very talented, historically underachieving team when he came here.

Meyer was a boob, but so are most head coaches around the league.

See that guy standing next to Ron, on the right?

That's why we all must be eternally grateful Billy Sullivan hired him.

There are few people who ever contributed more to this franchise than Scar.

R.I.P.

Scar is just a great coach. He was ST coach under Berry as well. Best unit in 1985.

Yea Hog had no love for Meyer

Remember the preseason game when he left the tickets for Elvis.

And they have had two who left on their own who did NOT have losing records, Parcells 32-32 and Fairbanks 46-39.. The last Pats coach to have a losing record was.....
**** MacPherson in 1991-92....

He looked good and healthy a few years ago in the SMU 30 for 30 doc
