The Globetrotters were a huge thing when I was a kid in the 1960's especially when they showed up on TV ... usually a Saturday afternoon. We didn't have cable and all the coverage of today so we really thought they could play ... if they wanted to outside of the funny stuff. This guy made many thousands of kids happy ... maybe a million or 2 ... who knows.

Yeah I remember watching them on Wide World of Sports from mid/late 60s - early/mid 70s and thinking that these guys could probably compete with NBA teams.
Of course during the season when they had Wilt Chamberlain, not only would they have competed, they would have won a lot of games - except against the Celtics.

Thanks for the memories, Meadowlark.

All week I looked forward to Wide World of Sports on Saturdays ... watched whatever was on that day.

We've come a long way ...
