That basically his kids are non existent to him. He doesn't care. He showed no emotion when he said this, and I was way let down by that attitude.

That's a byproduct of his conditioning by his own father. His father flew the coop or was indifferent to him when he was a child. Also, he feels he's been taken advantage of by the "baby mama". We all turn into our own father as we age. It's subconscious conditioning "downloading" into "hard drive" regions of the behavioral brain we can't reach to tweak.
