I would say the league should force the steelers to install it, if i was the owner of a multi-million dollar franchise they would of been pulled off that disgrace of a field last night!

The Rooney's believe that football was meant to be played on grass. Thats said, the University of Pittsburgh is going to force their hand more this off-season than the NFL. Pitt says the field could hurt recruituing and they want turf.

The Kraft's also liked natural grass and the league didn't give two $hits what the Kraft's thought! Our field at it's worse was nothing even close to that slop Monday night.

Super. The field was bad. I personally love dthe outcome of the game Monday. I saw it as a win/win. We won the game, but the field was bad enough that the Steelers will get turf in 2008. The Rooney's needed a kick in the nuts like Monday to make the change. They got it. I'm glad.

For a brand new beautyfull stadium the turf has been bad, real bad since the day it opened. I remember over the years hearing the commentators remarking about poor the field conditions. I've also seen more than a few players get hurt plying on it. For all that money you'd think the Rooneys would have done something by now.

Why? How about money? Plus there is no where to build a second stadium. It was deal made between Pitt and the Steelers when the stadium was built. IMO, Pitt made a decision to be a basketball school when they tore down Pitt Stadium and built the Peterson Event center in its place for hoops games. It makes sense too. With Miami as an exception, I can't think of any powerhouse college programs in an NFL city. It's too hard to support 2 teams. Plus, with no NBA in Pittsburgh, Pitts sells out every game in a band new arena.

The Rooneys have been stubborn about keeping grass. I think its partially because of all the years of playing on some of the worst turf in the NFL at Three Rivers Stadium. I think that made a strong impression on them. I think their heart is in the right place, but I think we will finally see them give in and put in turf.

i do not buy the argument about money. U of Pitt can afford a new football stadium, they choose not to. I have never been there, but there might not be anywhere to put a stadium. I know we all like grass fields, but for the same reason the Pats switched to field Turf, is the same reason the Steelers should. Way too many teams playing on a grass field and you get what you got against Miami...a mess.

What's not to believe about money? It costs millions to build a stadium and no one goes to Pitt games, so why build a stadium for average attendance of 20K? The Peterson Event ceneter was built of Pitt's campus where the old Pitts stadium used to be. Being a new arena, it takes up more acreage than the old field house and required use of the entire area where the old stadium was. With that space used, there is NO WHERE on Pitt's campus to build a stadium. UPMC is the biggest company in Pittsburgh and is buying up any space available on campus for medical use. It made sense for Pitt to try to piggyback on the Steeler's stadium given the economics and lack of land.

The Steeler do not only share Heinz with Pitt. Once a year in November, the high school championship games are played there as well. So 4 games were played there this past friday and then Pitt played saturday. The field has never recovered for the november beating in past years.
