Per SI, Rhodes was released yesterday... he showed some flashes in Indy and ran well in the last two (garbage) games last year... I like our backfield, but Faulk can't be the ageless wonder that he has been forever.... should the Pats bring in Rhodes for a visit? Is his substance abuse issue a big enough deal to keep him away... or should we just "stand pat" and go with what we have now... thoughts?

Eh, I say kick the tires and take a test drive. Odds are, it ain't much better than what they've got right now.

Re: Rhodes released by the Raiders... should we consider him?

I think he also had a domestic abuse problem, IIRC.

And he's the player from whom Bruschi -- the anti-Pierre Woods -- once took a ball away, proclaiming afterwards that he'd just "wanted it more".

No thanks.

Re: Rhodes released by the Raiders... should we consider him?

I don't really want him but I hope he doesn't go back to the colts.

Re: Rhodes released by the Raiders... should we consider him?

I don't think he'd make it in the locker room after bruschi ripped the ball out. Besides he's washed up.

Re: Rhodes released by the Raiders... should we consider him?

I'd pass on Rhodes too. I think the Pats are fine with Maroney/Morris/Faulk as our top 3.

I don't see him going back to Indy either. He probably wouldn't see much time with Addai & Keith being the top 2.

Someone will take a flyer on him. I could possibly see the Texans giving him a chance as they were banged up all to hell at RB last year.

Rhodes? Why? So he can get another DUI and distrub and distract a team that already HAS its fill of RBs? No thanks.

Re: Rhodes released by the Raiders... should we consider him?

as much as I like heartless running backs that fumble too much, i'm going to have to pass on this one.

It was VERY tempting though. very tempting.

The post season fumbles mixed with the drinking and driving did have me leaning towards the pats signing him though...........

i mean, as big of a fan as i am of guys who average 3 yards a carry, i would much rather trade for Kenton Keith, as he's been arrested more recently.

Re: Rhodes released by the Raiders... should we consider him?

I'm sure someone in the Pats organization considered it for 2 maybe 3 seconds then continued doing what he was doing.

Re: Rhodes released by the Raiders... should we consider him?

No way. I'm expecting big things from Sammy this year anyway. We're fine in the RB department.

Re: Rhodes released by the Raiders... should we consider him?

I gotta learn not to read threads titled "So and so released by so and so... should we consider him?"

My answer: GOD NO. I never like Dominic Rhodes.

My feelings with all these "Should the Patriots try player X?" threads. Heck, sign Pol Pot and the Dali Lama for cryin' out loud. If they can't make it in TC, well, no loss.

Is he going to wet his uniform after BB yells at him?:singing:

Re: Rhodes released by the Raiders... should we consider him?

Players who dissapoint on the Raiders can never have success on the Patriots.

You all saw how bad Randy Moss was last year.

What the hell is wrong with Maroney, Faulk, and Morris? That's all the Pats will carry. The offensive roster will stay pretty much the same from last season. Just substitute in Aiken for Stallworth.

Yeah, good point. Rhodes is a lock first ballot Hall of Famer, and he is to RBs as Moss is to WRs.

unless god forbid he gets injured again....then we are back in the same situation with LoMo carrying the majority of the load and faulk coming in once and awhile.........Morris was PHENOMENAL LAST YEAR....and IF healthy.....would be a huge part of our offense.....

He got cut by the Raiders! So I'd say no. He was an interchangeable part in Indianapolis, and unsuccessful in Oakland. And he doesn't seem like a good guy. I don't think he adds much to the Patriots.
