Agreed. I think he modeled his team after what was working in the 80's and 90's and never did it another way. Then saw that the way they had been doing things wasn't working and has no clue what went wrong and how to fix it

Kraft has said on many an occasion he tries to put the right people in charge and for the most part get out of their way. This last time around he chose poorly. I give him props for recognizing the failure owning it and moving on. We all hope he chose wisely this time, cause last time...

No succession plan after Brady
There was, but Brady outlived those plans. Bill thought by age 38 that Tom would be done.
No succession plan after McDaniels
True. Never should have let the younger guys in the organization walk.
Numerous failed WR drafts
Whatever Bill's grading system was clearly didn't value rookie WRs. He simply didn't build rosters that way. He waited until they proved themselves and then brought them in. The difference is the WR market changed and then Bill didn't want to pay.
Let OL deteriorate
Never should have let Joe Thuney leave.
Increasingly worse records over three years.
All of the above led to this.
But yea, should have never fired Bill, LOL
As sad as it is/was, the game passed Bill by. Father time is still undefeated. Maybe you can say Brady tied Father Time, but that'd be the only guy ever.

Never should have let Joe Thuney leave.

In a career full of hubris (most of it justified) letting Thuney walk was right up there. Thuney's extension should have been nailed down as soon as the 2018 season ended.

It’s even sadder because we can’t find lineman because no teams will let an elite tackle in their prime walk like that. Teams have a death grip on them

Bill bungled that offensive line situation pretty badly down the stretch. Ideally Bill should have paid him but instead he franchised Thuney in 2020 and probably cut us a comp pick because he could have let Thuney walk the year prior. After the 21 season he jerked around a serviceable Ted Karras who left for Cincy. Then the most egregious mismanagement of the line trading away Shaq Mason and then drafting Cole Strange to compound his mistakes.

Wasn't it amazing the very small minority of people here that defended her for absolutely no reason?

My belief is they tried to extend Thuney a few times and he said no. They were "far apart" . One he did leave the Chiefs made him the highest paid guard in NFL history.

The Pats obviously felt Thuney was a great player or they wouldn't have tagged him for $14m and hoped he accept their offers.

With that said, they were OK letting him walk because in 2021 they had Wynn at LT and Ted Karras at LG. They already locked up Shaq at RG for big money. The 2021 offense scored 27ppg, ran for over 2k yds on the ground and Jones was sacked only 28 times in 521 dropbacks. Historically the team had done a decent job drafting and developing guards.

Once they started sucking, losing Thuney looked worse and worse.

From what I remember, Thuney said Bill tried to do his 11th hour negotiation with him, but Thuney already had made up his mind and chose KC.

I don't doubt it. Thats the way the NEP negotiated if they couldn't do a deal. They let the player go find their market. Sometimes it worked and the player came back to the table (see Devin after he got his Giants offer and High with the Jets/Steelers)

Comments:

- Nobody knows exactly how Glaser screwed up, it is all speculation. I’d like some hard details.

- Kraft is a great owner and I am still in his corner. But yeah, I agree…. Not suing the league for Deflategate, the Orchids thing, and etc… has not looked good.

- Dunno why all the Jonathan Kraft hate around here. I am aware that Belichick wasn’t exactly buddies with Jonathan though, but I see Jonathan as the future of the franchise…Kraft is getting up there in years.

- We kept McDaniels away from the Colts job though.

- Our biggest mistake was not EXTENDING Brady back in 2017…but the man was 39 going on 40 that year… and we ended up trading away Garopollo when Tom lasted even longer.

- I don’t blame Belichick for 2020….he tried to win with Cam Newton making 1 million dollars…and managed 8 wins that season….amazing in of itself.

- 2022….we were a PLAY away from the playoffs…

- 2023…once Mac lost his confidence..we were cooked. Yet, Belichick managed to win the same number of games Mayo did with arguably a worse roster.

- Drafting is what killed us ultimately….and I think it is no coincidence that things went to **** after Caserio took the Houston job.

- Don’t think Kraft was ever “cheap” as the Patriots always spent to the cap or accrued cap credit for following years. He wasn’t cheap when we went hard for Aiyku and Ridley (shrugs).

- Overall…..things simply ran their course…years of success, drafting late, and no homegrown cheap talent…. Not sure Glaser had much to do with it.

My Fellow Old Dude... King Bob... don't you have grandkids?

It's high praise, an almost reverential term for someone who expects to be beloved as a figurehead and for the most part is

Yep, didn't have kids, so no grand-kids. Was married during my peak baby-making years but she never was mommy material and it wasn't a priority for me. Perhaps it should have been, but I guess I didn't feel a huge need to add more people to a crowded planet. Perhaps could have been different if things went differently during my own formative years, but they didn't.

You think she was just the finance and charity person with no football influence?

Your premise was a lot different than that. You said she manipulated Robert into firing Bill. You have no proof of that. You're just flinging poo.

Imbedded Kraft Group attorney installed to hold Mayo's hand.

Yes, Thunder Jr. is the future.
His past and present: New England Revolution

Mac's confidence had nothing to do with his talent level.
Mac possessed zero athletic traits necessary to elevate an NFL franchise

Year 6 of the rebuild.
In many ways, roster is worse than ever

Mainly just reading the tea leaves on what Bill said on the Pat McAfee Show after Mayo was fired.

“That’s (Robert Kraft’s) choice. People that own the team have the choice to do whatever they want to do. The other people that were in place... it’s also the rest of the organization, it’s not just the head coach.

So, you know, Robyn Glaser, Jonathan Kraft, whoever the other people are that are involved in those decisions and the structure of the organization. But you need that shared vision between ownership and the coaching and scouting. And that’s when you can be successful."

Bill specifically highlighting Glaser as a decision maker on firing a coach reads to me like Bill feels she has some juice. The fact that her profile seemed to rise as soon as Bill was fired and that she was sitting in on interviews for football positions makes me think she had some real sway.

My belief is Thuney fell victim to Bill's concept of what the $ ceiling was for his position. Thuney was and is an exceptional player in every sense of the word and as much as I loved me some BB a financial exception should have been made to accommodate Joe Thuney. He is the type of player you keep, a core guy you can build around

There's a little bit of that at the end with Bill. X position paid X dollars, and he was unbending.

Odd that you ignore the starting line, that it was Robert's choice.

Could very well be that Robert and Jonathan created a void by firing Bill, and they chose to throw her into the breech.

It's just as plausible to me as the theory that she manipulated Bob into firing Bill.

If she had enough juice to get Bill fired it's odd that she's out now, IMO.
