Report: Patriots Using Tom Brady’s Toughness To Push Jimmy Garoppolo To Return

Felger, last night on his show, said four people confirmed the story to him that Brady had this injury four times and he played though it without missing time.

I know a lot of people here don't like Felger but I have no reason to think he'd make that up.

Felger is a loud-mouthed pot-stirrer who annoys the hell out of me but I also tend to believe him on this.

At this point I think we can assume a few things.

#1 Jimmy is hurting but if he were in a position where playing was outright not an option for the next 2 games the Pats would sign someone else.

#2 Given #1 we can assume this is a "minor" AC spain meaning it is mostly pain management and he likely can't injiure it more.

#3 Given if the logic is correct following #1 and #2 Jimmy could play this week or at least be an option to play.

Myself personally as long as the above is true I would like to see Jimmy play. Not just for the Pats but also to assess him long term. What I want is Jimmy in this game hurting and struggling and maybe his velocity being only 80% of what it usually is. I want to see how he does hurting vs a tough pass rush that will hit him and see him get hit and pull himself up and be ready for the next play. I want to see his WRs not get open easily and him forced to throw balls away and see if he gets frustrated and starts to force things. This part suck.. but i want to see him throw an interception precisely because he can not force it in like he usually does and see is he adjust for that without playing overly scared. Also I want this game close in the 4th and have Jimmy with all this against them lead a go ahead drive.

That is what top QBs do. They are put in bad spots when the game plan offensively isn't working and they are hurt and guys are not winning match ups and then in the 4th you look them in the eye and tell them win this one for us and they manage to do it.

This to me is one of the last boxes Jimmy needs to check off.

so in essence all you're asking for is simply to be able to tell if JG can replace Tom as heir apparent...in one game...

Brady isn't the only QB that can lead a comeback under unfavorable circumstances. But to do it you have to be pretty capable.

Is this "pressure" somehow specific to the QB position? They can't apply the same pressure to Gronk and his hammy?

I don't buy it.

I buy it.
Not for the game against Houston, but as a part of the lesson unit" What does it mean, to be A FRANCHISE QB IN THE NFL"
With piss poor performance in the week 1 and 2, nobody would talk about that:" Yeah, he´s the backup, don´t work, who cares, next one!"

But now, Jimmy writes his applications.
And part of this applications is: "How can you deal with injuries? And how can you play with a Handicap?"

2. Garoppolo starts and it is just a pain management thing. Lets remember that AC joint sprain he cant damage it anymore by playing.

Like hell he can't , if he lands or gets hit on that shoulder again it most certainly get more damaged.

I think the point (or assertion) is that what already happened won't make the damage from the new hit be worse than it would have been otherwise.

To put (fake) numbers on it to clarify the assertion:
Let's say that JG took 17 points of damage last week. The assertion is that if he takes a hit that would cause him 5 additional points of damage if he had 0 damage points it would still only cause him 5 additional damage points even though he's operating with 17 points of damage.

That's not true in general. For some injuries a hit that would cause 5 damage points to a healthy player would cause, say, 11 points of damage to an already-injured player.

What if he has a defense buff and a mistweaver monk pocket healer?

Ahem, if it was Tom he would have been like " fresh as a lettuce and ready to go". If Jimmy is hurt, he needs to toughen up. If he's injured and they make him play then the team might be under investigation again. Don't want other team to think all they have to do is hit Jimmy to have success against the Pat if he is the future.

This is completely fabricated media BS.
Why do you folks buy into this horseshit.

This is pure and total BS and nobody reporting the story would have any level of access that would ever be able to substantiate this.

I'm not going to lie though, I would love to see Jimmy come out and give a speech like Josh McCown the other day when he was asked why he stayed in the game despite being hurt. I understand it sends the wrong message to others, I understand he should have stayed out and potentially been able to come back sooner later, but damn it, how the hell do you not root for this guy?

If RGIII had 10% of the heart of McCown, he'd be a first-ballot HOFer.

Brady playing hurt in 2002 after the AC sprain had games with completion percentages of 49%, 51%, and 57% with 3 INTs in the 3 games, a L, L, and OT win. He was not himself, even his 2002 self.
