Nesn is saying it looks and feels uneven...... they just sodded it today

I saw the field and it looked like crap. If some one gets hurt by grass I will lose it.

gutless pieces of ****..... change your field the day of the game?

wtf???

Well it looks like we're popping a few ACL's tonight ... freaking joke ... multi million dollar athletes, stadiums and teams and dime store fields.

If Goodell wanted to do something worthwhile as commissioner, he would step in and do something about poor field conditions, for the obvious injury-related reasons.

Whether it's a huge fine or even a forfeit, the league has to send the message that you can't cut corners on the playing field, especially when the annual investment in the combined rosters in a typical game is north of $200 million.

Icy it's ridiculous.

No class.... it should be mandated to have certain field conditions that meet a requirement not half asssed crap where they intentionally botch the field..... (this puts players at a health risk

it should be prohibited

Is Ronnie Brown playing? You can't tell me a newly resodded field is good for him.

Chris

@adamhebert2 I haven't been on the field, but it does not look good to me. If I'm a player, I'm concerned for my safety.

@ChrisPaceAZ Don't think they'd sit Welker because of the field, but I think it has to be a concern. If I'm a player, safety is on my mind.

Football research director Ernie Adams is on the field, pressing his sneaker against the seam between the sod and old grass.

Some Patriots coaches/players have taken the field. They are taking a hard look at the re-sodded part of the field.

Seriously?

Hold on a second. Before we go getting furious at Miami, let us remember we have a coach who does anything and everything in his power to keep the field sloppy when weather is inclement in Foxboro. You can't try and tell me that is beneficial for injuries or in the guise of keeping players healthy.

Might wanna point that finger back at ourselves if you are indeed upset about this.

Chill... Both teams are playing on the same field.

We have field turf.

It's unreal ... fields should be standardized to the best extent possible. I loved the old days when the rain games were muddy and a hot sun baked field was fast. It was the same game ... just dirtier. Now players play an entire game and they still can be clean. I'm waiting for the future lung exams that show where those black bead dust inhaled has led to health problems.

they seriously couldn't one day to do it it dumb and probably only done to have it look good on TV

just how bad was the field before this to make them have to sod it.

I don't get this one....there is a reason somewhere, however logical it is...

Well, it was so bad, it was pure dirt.

They sodded over the baseball infield/home/pitcher's mound.

BS...... They are putting athletes on both sides in dire straights

We never put sod down the same day of the match!

Are you positive of that last fact, because I believe sometime in 06 or 05 we did indeed do that. Could be wrong though.

Regardless, Gillette hasn't always been field turf and BB used to do things like tell the grounds crew to leave protective turf off of the field so it would get naturally weathered and muddied by rain.

Rainy or snowy fields don't usually lead to busted ACL's. Recently put down chunks of sod do. See 2009 Welker, Wes.

to the same extent as covering a baseball field.........

I think not

new sod=dangerous and loose

Well the MLB season ended yesterday, so let's put aside our conspiracy theories. There's no intent to injure players here. It's reckless and lame, but nothing more than that. Considering that Ronnie Brown is a walking ACL tear, I doubt the Dolphins are pumped about this either.

Woahhh, new sod is dangerous??? You totally opened my eyes.

I'm not arguing that. You started calling Miami "gutless pieces of ****" for not doing what you presume is everything in their power to prevent injuries. All I'm saying is, pot, meet kettle. BB has intentionally done things to help the condition of the field deteriorate.

And just to be clear, I don't think either team should be dubbed "gutless pieces of ****" for how a field is managed, I just want to promote our fans thinking with a little objectivity. Both teams play on the same field. The assumed risk is equal.

Let's stop the whining and kvetching girls, and go watch some football!!

Better just to leave the infield dirt. Dressing it up for MNF -- that's all they're doing.
