Report: Colts sell new stadium naming rights for $120M

The rights were reportedly purchased by nike, for their bode.com promotions. A nike spokesman told reporters, "we could think of no better name for the colts' stadium than Bode.com Field. When people think of
all-time chokes, they think of bode miller, and the colts. We are excited about the opportunities this will present us. We are committed to tripling the number of beer concessions; no more waiting to drink for our fans!" Additionally, 12 taps featuring a variety of seasonal brews will be installed in each locker room.

A more logical sponsor would be the Heimlich Institute.org Dome. What better way to spread the word about the dangers of choking.

Seems somewhat odd that a CA company (that is non-porn related) jumped on that, even though they do sell nationwide. You'd think an Indy company would make that investment. Unless they don't want the association with perennial almost-beens.

Lucas and his wife apparently built their company from scratch starting out in Indiana. They still have a manufacturing facility there and there has been some talk of them possibly relocating the company HQ back home in Indiana. They are very big in NASCAR sponsorships.

Indy fans aren't wild about the deal ($6M a year aside) because the name Lucas Oil Stadium (LOS) doesn't exactly roll off the tongue and they fear it will be dubbed the Oil Can or some other less flattering nickname involving the use of Lubricants.

And it won't be lost on the taxpayers of Indianapolis who are paying to build this $500M facility since they are the ones who will ultimately be getting the lube job. The Colts not only got naming rights, they get a cut of non football revenue to go along with the expanded football take on new club and luxury seating, parking, etc. Hope they remember to include all that in their Total Football Revenue starting in 2008. Of course after Peyton gets his cut. I doubt Tom Condon is gonna let Irsay pocket much of this as long as Manning is still at the helm.

Thanks, Mo. It actually makes some sense then.

How about 'Slippery Slope (down)'
or
"Slide slide slidin' away"

The grease pit.

Thanks for the tip - unfortunately for them I recently won a $200 million PowerBall Jackpot and couldn't decide how to spend it.

From now on, the Colts will be playing in "Colts Suck Stadium"

.

Look at it this way, when they leave the stadium after choking again, they'll see S O L in their rear view mirror......That's appropriate.......

Just my $0.02,
