"Posting personal information (phone #'s and addresses, regardless of whether or not it's public) is forbidden in the forum and will result in an immediate 3-day suspension"

If you have a problem with how Ian runs this forum, please send him a PM.

If I, as an modererator, see a post that contains personal information, I will delete it.

What brought this on?

Someone thought it was a good idea to post Jason Chayut's (Branch's agent) phone #.

what if we post fake information?

is that still worth a 3 day suspension?

His personal cell phone number or the number to his office?

Those questions will have to be answered by Ian.

If I see personal information, I am not going to check it to see if it is fake or not. I am just going to delete it.

I'm not sure...hopefully his office.

Yeh, Make it harder for the moderators by being "funny".

IMO, it does not matter.

Ian's policy is rather clear, IMO, on the posting of personal information.

There's a bit of a difference, because one's private while the other is in the public yellowpages.

Maybe people should welcome the reminder.

That way, if they screw up, they can't say they didn't know.

I agree. It doesn't matter. Why make a moderator try to find out if
some personal information is public or private?

Simple ... anything that could be potential revelation of someone's personal
information should be deleted immedately and the poster gets warned or
even banned if it is a blatant thing.

Personal information should also include email addresses also. IMO.
If someone needs an email address and someone else knows it let those
two talk via a PM.

Or you can just visit Ian at his home address to personally tell him how you feel:

So, the question is, who's address did you just post?

I think that this should be a zero tolerance issue with permanent bannings as a real sanction. A number of people on here could be in real danger if personal information was given out relating to them. As someone who often works with crack users, mentally ill people and those with violent criminal records, I feel strongly about this.

Moderators' time is just as valuable as another posters.

I do not understand why anyone posting on this board would want to do something that could possibly get Ian into trouble.

You have never worked with me.

ok its fake, its just not funny. why be an idiot to miguel?

the joke is that one would actually think that someone would post personal information about voicing an opinion about personal information... and furthermore that someone would fail to see the irony and the joke

Good policy...

. No, but I have seen some of your posts. I'm steering clear.
