Most knee injections help lubricate the joint/reduce swelling and ease pain.

Why does he need this if he only has a bone bruise? I hate to stir up panic but it's probably worse than a bone bruise.

Not sure it's quite time yet. We knew that the bone bruise/sprain he sustained in November would cause him to feel pain in the knee for some time. He probably re-injured it, and so he required an injection to help reduce the pain and/or inflammation. The injection is suppose to offer a powerful relief for both symptoms. He won't be 100%, but this may help him manage the pain and still be effective.

Of course he's going to play, its the playoffs! He played in Super Bowl 46 on one leg. The point is he sucked. And he might suck this weekend.
