Regardless of Today's Outcome, Manning and Brady's Legacy's Are Set
By:

By the time the Patriots and Broncos are done deciding who's moving on to New Jersey in two weeks, it's safe to say that this game will fall into the list of accomplishments for either Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, and nothing more....

I don't think I agree. Both are HOFers and that certainly won't change but so much of their legacy is written in this game and the next games before they retire.

The unique thing about this rivalry is that both of these guys were confirmed HOFers by the end of the 2004 season. That's really crazy, most guys are just establishing themselves at 26, or 27 in the NFL but it wasn't a question of greatness, only a question of how great they would become over the next 10-15 years.

A lot of Manning's (and now Luck's) legacy was about how many SB's he WOULD win. When Manning broke the TD record in 2003 it was unthinkable that he would be at this point in his career with only one ring. People still count the rings Manning will win because it seems that the odds have to kick in eventually after so many trips to the playoffs.

I think if Manning ends his career with only one ring it will be a huge mark on his record. Won't be as bad for Brady but still a big part of his legacy because you can't separate the two.

Have not read the article, nor the various "legacy" articles in the media this week. The cements the legacy of Brady if he wins and Manning if he loses. That has been the common thread on this site over the past number of years. How does this game not change that theory? There is a possibility that this is Manning's last game as he takes an examination after his final game this year. If he loses, he's compared to Marino, not Brady.
