So much speculation that BB is leaving.

I look at this differently. Maybe they all don't want to go out that way and BB wanted McDaniels so he doesn't have to worry about the offense side of the ball. Maybe Schiano started wavering.

So now BB wants to put his energies into the defense. It would have been tough to be both offensive and defensive coordinator.

Maybe they shipped out Jimmy because they plan to hit the market to replenish this team and go heavy on defense in free agency.

Maybe people have a little pride and do the things they do because they want to win and care about their legacy.

Free agency will tell us alot

2011 season was the last time the Patriots defense genuinely STUNK (#15 in points, #31 in yards.)

In the 2012 draft the Patriots spent their first 6 picks on defense, including Jones and Hightower as the top 2. In free agency they added 7 more guys, though none of the names stand out as big money stars or anything.

I expect something like that to happen in 2018.
