I had just heard about the Manny/Youk incident.
Couldn't find anything else about it.
Does anyone know what happened here or have a reasonable guess?
Sure is ugly when teammates go at it.
Willie and Izzo was pretty ugly.

Everyone who spoke about it said it was no big deal and that stuff like that happens to every team. Typically it occurs in the clubhouse and not in the dugout where cameras can pick it up, so it's never something that the fans and media know about.

It's a complete non-issue.

Youk was pissed that Manny took an hour and a half to come out of the dugout during the brawl. Told him "Your hammy must really be bothering you since you took so long to get onto the field" and Manny went off..........

I loved it. I don't usually condone that stuff, but Coco had a nice slip and counter punch. I was cheering.

Youk was pissed that Manny took an hour and a half to come out of the dugout during the brawl. Told him "Your hammy must really be bothering you since you took so long to get onto the field" and Manny went off..........

ESPN reported that it was because Manny told Youk to 'knock that s--- off' when he started slamming stuff in the dugout after a bad AB.. Apparently the whole team is sick of that stuff.. Youk gets pissed after every at bat if he makes an out, and the team is tired of it when they're winning 7-1 and in first place..
I also noticed tonight when he took a called 3rd strike there was NO reaction from him, which is not the norm.. Sounds like ESPN was right..

On another note, they announced the suspensions from the fight.. everything seemed in order except for Lester being suspended for 5 games.. don't get that.. apparently it was from him hitting Crawford with a looping 75 mph curveball that glanced off his shoulder.. It was so innocent neither the ump or the Rays even said a word.. I would expect this to be overturned, especially where he wasn't even ejected after hitting Crawford (he's the turd who was the 4th man in on Coco, rabbit punches and pulling hair?) Should be retribution for what Crawford and Gomes did next time these two meet.. Hoping it's Beckett on the mound for that one..

Actually I was very surprised Lester wasn't tossed from the game. After all the brawling was finished, tempers had cooled down, and the Sox had control of the game up 7-1 he threw a fastball just under Cliff Floyd's chin. Then a few batters later he throws a fastball behind the back of another batter, forgot who that was. What I remember about that pitch was that Varitek caught the pitch behind the guy's back - which makes me think he knew it was coming. Considering Lester didn't walk a single batter it's tough to say he didn't have control of his pitches.

That was a funny game, did you catch the post game interview in the Sox locker room, how Coco was saying how the other teams players were a bunch of girls. HAHA.
