If the Cowboys/Pats players were somehow reversed, if our D wasn't as good as it was, and only as good as the Dallas D, and the Dallas D played as well as ours, and if the Patriots QB was Romo, and the Dallas QB was Brady, etc etc etc, you would be saying the loss would be the other way around.

Even more so for Pittsburgh.

Do you really think we would win if we swapped Brady for Big Ben, Moss and Welker for whover the Steelers have, etc?

Is your analysis based on the relative abilities of the teams, or a need to say the Patriots will lose some games.

If you look at any one game, I think it is realistic to expect the Patriots to win. The only one possibly in question is Indy, and our offense is a mirror of the Colts offense. And our D is better. How is it realistic then for the Indy D to perform better than our D?

Here's some fat to chew on. If this was the first year of the NFL's existence, would it be as far fetched to predict an undefeated season for the Pats? Our only basis in fact would be for the first 4 games. There would be no preconcieved notions about other teams or their personel and we would have no idea how difficult history has shown it is to go 16-0. I submit that ignoring the past in the same way that pepole would like others to ignore the future, except for the next game, raises the perception of the reality towards 16-0.

UNRealistic Prediction for 2007 - 13-3

I can't see us going 9-3 from here out.
It may be possible but it is UNrealistic.
I believe 12-0 is more realistic than 9-3.
But we probably go 11-1 from here on out.
The boys have a lot of motivation to win every game.
Brady and Moss are playing better than any QB or WR EVER.

This is not a Realistic Prediction. Its a conservative prediction.
Every game the rest of the way, the Pats will be the favorites.
Optomistic prediction -- 16-0
Pessimistic prediction - 12-4
Most likely scenario 15-1 or 14-2

Losing to Indy, Dallas and Pitt....... Douptful. I certainly think we'll could drop one of those without question, with an outside shot at dropping 2 but unlikely. All three, no way.

No, I say we possibly drop one of those to go 15-1.

Plus, there is certainly a possibility of dropping one of those games that will make us say WTF.... to go 14-2 or even 15-1 if we mange to beat the big 3.

I don't see undefeted at this point........ but this team is special, for sure.

I just don't see NE losing to Dallas, Indy, and Pitt. I can see them losing to one of those teams and maybe blow a game to a lesser team (Miami?). Dallas is from the NFC and therefore not accustomed to playing big games against better AFC teams. Pittsburg doesn't have the offense to keep up with NE and has already lost to Arizona. Indy, on the other hand, is the only other team that I really respect. It helps that they have an experienced, dymanic QB; something Dallas (inexperienced) and Pitt (not dynamic) don't.

Hey, whatever happened to all those Steelers fans and their "Who's better? Brady or Rothlisberger?" hulla-balloo. That one died as quick as the Sox fans and the "Nomar vs. Jeter" comparisons!

Now back up on that one. Nomar was a clearly better player than Derek Jeter until Al Reyes decided he'd never amount to anything so he might as well be famous for crippling a potential Hall of Famer.

Nomar put up consecutive seasons of 142, 152, and 158 OPS+ before his wrist did him in (Jeter actually had a OPS+ of 161! in 1999, though settled in between 120-130 in the seasons surrounding that year).

In Nomar's first four seasons (97-00) he was clearly better than Captain Intangibles in '97, '98, and '00. Jeter had an edge in '99 when they were both absolutely amazing. Jeter has obviously had the better career but there's no need to take any derisive shots at Sox fans who, at the time, were right.

Lose at Dallas? Maybe (but I doubt it). Lose at Indy? Only if the Pats play it vanilla, in order to save their trump cards for the postseason. Lose to the Steelers at Home?! No Friggin' WAY!

We will NOT play it vanilla as it would more than likely cost us the chance to have home field advantage should we meet them in the playoffs - and does anyone want to bet AGAINST that scenario at the moment?

Having said that, there are 12 games left in the regular season and there are lots of ways that things might not go as expected - injuries probably being the biggest wildcard.
