Rams Fan (come in peace)

As a long time reader, I am aware that you are just playing a role, and I find it slightly amusing. This is a poster from another board who has no clue about how awful Boston media is and wouldn’t understand your sthick. Fairly respectful first post really does not deserve this and I know I like seeing an insightful other teams fan POV. Lllloyd for example is one of the best posters on here even if he does root for the whiny, me first, biotch squeelers.
Are you the PC Police?

Pay attention to your own posts. What you posted doesn’t get you any respect points. It’s a football fan board and it’s ok if some want to be a tad cantankerous.

For the most part, Patsfans have been “nice”. But we’re not singing Kumbaya or We Are The World

Not really. They dug themselves into a hole with 3 turnovers and dug themselves out of it. If this game was lost it would have been on the offense not taking care of the ball. The defense overachieved for 3 quarters and the offense almost vomited it up.

Hell they were one offside away from a fourth turnover.

Yeah, this narrative of the defense having a total meltdown in the 4th quarter because of the points allowed is a bit ridiculous when you consider the following:
  • At the start of the quarter the Chiefs were already in Pats territory and immediately got a questionable PI call based on how the game had been called to that point, so that
  • By 14:56 of the 4th quarter the Chiefs were on the 1.
  • The offense failing to convert 4th down at the Chiefs' 24 yard line almost certainly cost them 3, if not 7 points, not to mention another couple of minutes running off the clock
  • After that failed conversion the D forced a 3 and out.
  • How did the offense reward them? By coughing up an interception on their very first play and giving the Chiefs field position at the 23 yard line. You can't possibly blame the defense for those 7 points (even if the play for the TD was a busted coverage).
  • After Pats O redeems themselves via scoring a TD, the Chiefs got starting position at their own 32 and after a would-be second 3 and out of the quarter was negated by a defensive hold, Mahomes throws a 30 yard PI that IMO was just a bad call for playoff football.
  • On the next play the ball should have been intercepted.
  • On the next play a blatant OPI is not called and Watkins gets down to the 2. Another 7.
  • Finally, even on the FG drive, both passes were absolutely spectacular. In particular the one that put em in FG range Jackson had tight coverage and I thought for sure he was going to break it up.
So I get that it's easy to say that the final result was unacceptable (and it was) and that they can't have penalties called on them but with the exception of the blown coverage allowing the TD immediately after the offense coughed it up, and a couple of untimely penalties, I thought the defense played really well. The gameflow was just crazy.

And to OP, welcome to the forum! I think the Rams and Patriots are two evenly matched teams and what you see as disrespect is really just confidence based on overcoming the Chiefs and Chargers plus some favourable mental gymnastics and rationalization haha. I'm sure most Ram forum members believe you will win likewise!

The post I was responding to was either deleted by mods or taken down so no it wasn’t just me being the PC police, it crossed a line. Do you even know what it said? A Ram fan coming here has to know they are going behind enemy lines and every fan base has its Aholes, even ours, so a “Rams Suck”, or a “we are gonna blow you out” doesn’t move the needle for me because free speech and all that. They have to know it’s coming and be ok with it. I wish everyone could go deeper then that, like at least to the pats o line has been lights out the past two games and I expect them to be so again, but I get that’s not a football fan board reality. Now I happen to know tennis ball head is making fun of that jacka$$ in the Boston media. I have seen enough to understand his negativity is just a sthick and normally think nothing of it. Saying “please go away” to a respectful new comer is not ok because he/she are not aware of the joke.

On D, this will all depend on stopping the run. However, if we have to load the box to stop the run like we did last year, then I can actually see Goff having success in man coverage. It would be better to do it without having to sell out to the run.

Now if the game goes into Goff's hands, I can't see him having enough. However, he has proved he can have real success when teams are terrified of Gurley (or maybe CJ this week)

Funnily enough, I feel we will get an idea of how easy it is pretty early on. Last year the style of the game meant that you never really trusted the D to make a stop. We make stops here and look in control, the O will put up points.

So to the OP, on my part at least, we don't underrate, but we see a path to victory. However, as stated above, that path could start looking dodgy if you establish a great run game, and let Goff attack the remains of us,

Goff is going to have to determine every single snap whether the Pats are loading the box or sending an extra man or not.

I’ve been monitoring the forum for the last week or so, as I have been awaiting my approval to post. I hope you guys don’t kick me out of here to quick lol.

I realize there aren’t many Rams fans out there, and I haven’t seen any come to this board. I’m from Missouri and grew up during the GSOT era. It killed me when they moved away, but it was still the same group of players and I had no reason to abandon ship.

This game will hopefully be sweet revenge from 01. I think a lot of you guys are underestimating this Rams team.

I’ve read a lot about how much respect you guys have for Aaron Donald. I’ve seen how little Goff is respected. There seems to be a lot of confidence that the patriots D is going to hold up.

I understand why most don’t fear Goff. Most people can’t get over the Goff they saw under Jeff Fisher. One thing I haven’t seen a lot of talk about is the play-calling of Sean McVay. McVay is our biggest weapon on offense. Considering the noise won’t be near the factor it was in New Orleans ~ I would be surprised if the Rams didn’t score 30.

My biggest question is how will our defense hold up. While talented, they have been very inconsistent. They seem to have kicked it in another gear over the last few games.

Should be a great game..nothing like having your team in the SB. It’s a fun week. We aren’t used to this lol. Prediction Rams 34 Pats 24

First off, welcome.
You will most likely not be kicked off here for being a rams fan and if you ever are I’d wonder how there’s a jets fan around here. Lol
Secondly, I noticed that your being cool about this whole thing. Many here will appreciate dialogue with a non delusional, semi conscious steeler fan ranting about god knows what.
Enjoy

I was wrong to jump on you for that and I apologize. It is just a football fan board and it’s good to have opposing guests.

Good to have you here on Patsfans.com There are a lot of superior Xs and Os posters here - both men and women.

A few comments:

1) It's not revenge for '01 when there is nothing remaining from that St. Louis Rams team on this LA Rams team. I mean, how real is the old "we'll get 'em this time, men" speech when the coach was like 16 at the time and trying to get to second base in the back seat of his Dad's PT Cruiser?

2) Tom Brady was sacked three times all year by an interior DL, and the first two came in the opener against the Chiefs. I don't know about everybody on this board, but I firmly believe the most valuable person on the team is Offensive Line Coach Dante Scarnecchia who should be a first ballot hall of famer when the time comes.

3) Your defense hasn't gotten a whiff of an offense this versatile. The worst news for the Rams is how healthy every player on offense is at this point in the season, including Gronk, Burkhead and Edelman. But more than anybody, Tom effin' Brady. I don't know if he was hurt during the middle of the season when he was bailing out and skittish under pressure, but the man has played his best football over the past six weeks. He has a full complement of weapons at his disposal and a running game that is equal to the 2004 Patriots - look it up. This year they have 2037 rushing yards for 18 TDs, in 2004 the Pats had 2134 with 15 TDs.

4) I think the Patriots will focus on WRs Robert Woods and Brandon Cooks, and make the Rams beat them with Gurley, who looks hurt, and his backup. The Patriots' secondary is up to the task, and the Patriots pass rush does not record a lot of sacks but is good as making a mess of the opponent's pocket. The Rams are average at TE as far as I can see, and that is a weakness against the Patriots. In the Eagles Super Bowl, Zach Ertz was prominent with a TD and 7 receptions. The Patriots took Kelce out of the picture in the AFCC. I don't see Everett or the other guy having a big night.

5) And last, despite what Marshall Faulk says, nobody is going to tape the Rams doing the cheek-to-cheek in the ballroom at the hotel on the night before the game.

Cheers.
Opener was against Houston, but excellent post nonetheless.

"Most people can’t get over the Goff they saw under Jeff Fisher."

The Goff I've seen in the second half hasn't exactly been awe inspiring either. I think he is what he is: a decent, not great QB who struggles mightily with consistency.

Nick Foles wasn't awe inspiring going into SB 52. But than again, the likes of Bademosi, Rowe, & Richards won't be on defense tomorrow. And I am going to predict BB won't bench Gilmore.

He lit up the Vikings (ranked #1 in total defense) in the NFCCG.
