The Rams are going down!

On D, this will all depend on stopping the run. However, if we have to load the box to stop the run like we did last year, then I can actually see Goff having success in man coverage. It would be better to do it without having to sell out to the run.

Now if the game goes into Goff's hands, I can't see him having enough. However, he has proved he can have real success when teams are terrified of Gurley (or maybe CJ this week)

Funnily enough, I feel we will get an idea of how easy it is pretty early on. Last year the style of the game meant that you never really trusted the D to make a stop. We make stops here and look in control, the O will put up points.

So to the OP, on my part at least, we don't underrate, but we see a path to victory. However, as stated above, that path could start looking dodgy if you establish a great run game, and let Goff attack the remains of us,

When its all going right, Goff looks as good as anyone

I think Pats fan confidence is less about the Rams being seen as an easy mark (they're not), and more about how the Pats were able to whip the Chargers and then beat the Chiefs on the road. Frankly a lot of us are pleasantly surprised at how the team turned it on after being really inconsistent.

My feeling is that basically if the Patriots play like they did in the last 2 weeks, the Rams are in serious trouble. On the flipside, if the Patriots slip up the Rams are totally capable of running up the score on them.

Don’t worry maybe the nfl will pull an art modell and change the LA rams to another name and logo and bring the STL rams back to Missouri.

Always funny to see weird viewpoints like this. The AFCCG was the best defensive performance of the season (with the Chargers being the second best and the first Chiefs game being third). Holding that offense to 0 points at half is absolutely bonkers. It was a great game by the D unit with the only really disappointing drive being the FG at the end. We overcame a 3 turnover (2 INTs and the stop on 4th) deficit on the road. Sometimes the expectations around here are absolutely silly.

Not allowing 24 points in the fourth quarter is seriously not a huge ask, dude. The offense deserves all the credit in the world for overcoming that.

Not really. They dug themselves into a hole with 3 turnovers and dug themselves out of it. If this game was lost it would have been on the offense not taking care of the ball. The defense overachieved for 3 quarters and the offense almost vomited it up.

Hell they were one offside away from a fourth turnover.

I’ve been monitoring the forum for the last week or so, as I have been awaiting my approval to post. I hope you guys don’t kick me out of here to quick lol.

I realize there aren’t many Rams fans out there, and I haven’t seen any come to this board. I’m from Missouri and grew up during the GSOT era. It killed me when they moved away, but it was still the same group of players and I had no reason to abandon ship.

This game will hopefully be sweet revenge from 01. I think a lot of you guys are underestimating this Rams team.

I’ve read a lot about how much respect you guys have for Aaron Donald. I’ve seen how little Goff is respected. There seems to be a lot of confidence that the patriots D is going to hold up.

I understand why most don’t fear Goff. Most people can’t get over the Goff they saw under Jeff Fisher. One thing I haven’t seen a lot of talk about is the play-calling of Sean McVay. McVay is our biggest weapon on offense. Considering the noise won’t be near the factor it was in New Orleans ~ I would be surprised if the Rams didn’t score 30.

My biggest question is how will our defense hold up. While talented, they have been very inconsistent. They seem to have kicked it in another gear over the last few games.

Should be a great game..nothing like having your team in the SB. It’s a fun week. We aren’t used to this lol. Prediction Rams 34 Pats 24
Rams are not going to win by two scores. Sorry to shut down that pipe dream.

Must be nice to have an all-star team with an all-star coach. Pats are very much the underdog in this game despite the Vegas line.

Was going to post the same thing - particularly considering that 21 of those 31 points were gifts (you can't defend a pick play, which is why they're supposed to be illegal). And it's hard to fault a DB on a ticky-tack interference call.

If I were from Missouri, no way would I follow this team.

I am genuinely interested in why you still like them. The Patriots almost moved to St. Louis back in 1991 and I was on record as saying, if they move, I will definitely not be a Patriots fan.

When the Whalers moved from Hartford, I not only didn't follow them, but I rooted against Carolina every chance I could.

Whenever the Ravens go on the road, my Cleveland sister roots for mid-air engine failure.

Her hatred for the Browns-to-Baltimore makes Sox-Yankees look like newlyweds on a tropical beach.

^. Assuming White has over 35-40 yards in the passing game that is.

Its not likely both Gurley and Sony will have over 100. The one that does his team wins the game.

I think the interior of the Pats O-line vs Donald and Suh will be the deciding factor. If Brady isn't pressured from inside, I think the Pats D will do enough to allow us to win. If they can’t stop Donald, it’ll be a long game.

A question to the Rams fan. Assuming you have watched your team every game this year plus more, is Suh still a dirty player? Does he still stomp on peoples heads and hands? Kick em in the stomach? The thing I am concerned about it Suh taking out Bradys knees etc, even if he gets tossed. Suh to me is like Burfict, never really can control himself. The calculus actually works for the Rams...

Good to have you here on Patsfans.com There are a lot of superior Xs and Os posters here - both men and women.

A few comments:

1) It's not revenge for '01 when there is nothing remaining from that St. Louis Rams team on this LA Rams team. I mean, how real is the old "we'll get 'em this time, men" speech when the coach was like 16 at the time and trying to get to second base in the back seat of his Dad's PT Cruiser?

2) Tom Brady was sacked three times all year by an interior DL, and the first two came in the opener against the Texans. I don't know about everybody on this board, but I firmly believe the most valuable person on the team is Offensive Line Coach Dante Scarnecchia who should be a first ballot hall of famer when the time comes.

3) Your defense hasn't gotten a whiff of an offense this versatile. The worst news for the Rams is how healthy every player on offense is at this point in the season, including Gronk, Burkhead and Edelman. But more than anybody, Tom effin' Brady. I don't know if he was hurt during the middle of the season when he was bailing out and skittish under pressure, but the man has played his best football over the past six weeks. He has a full complement of weapons at his disposal and a running game that is equal to the 2004 Patriots - look it up. This year they have 2037 rushing yards for 18 TDs, in 2004 the Pats had 2134 with 15 TDs.

4) I think the Patriots will focus on WRs Robert Woods and Brandon Cooks, and make the Rams beat them with Gurley, who looks hurt, and his backup. The Patriots' secondary is up to the task, and the Patriots pass rush does not record a lot of sacks but is good as making a mess of the opponent's pocket. The Rams are average at TE as far as I can see, and that is a weakness against the Patriots. In the Eagles Super Bowl, Zach Ertz was prominent with a TD and 7 receptions. The Patriots took Kelce out of the picture in the AFCC. I don't see Everett or the other guy having a big night.

5) And last, despite what Marshall Faulk says, nobody is going to tape the Rams doing the cheek-to-cheek in the ballroom at the hotel on the night before the game.

Cheers.

Welcome to the board! I think if you’ll read a lot of game analysis outside of the clear “chest thump” posts, you will find that not many here are estimating the Rams or Goff. You may recall our fan base has gone through losses to Foles and Eli (twice), so I think this would be the last fan base to underestimate a QB. Goff is statistically much better than those two; I think the natural tendency here is lump Goff and McVay together when talking strategy. And I think it’s the same with the national media. I like Goff. He’s a number one overall pick, so no point in trying to pick apart his talent and competence; his game reminds me of a young Brady. He’s very good in the pocket.

People can talk about Donald, Suh. Gurley, all they want. The game (as always) ultimately comes down to Goff and Brady.

Good luck, but not too good, of course. My ancestors are Rams fans (from Illinois in the STL area), so I've always considered it one of my favorite non Pats teams. Like last year against a very likable Philly team, it won't be the worst thing in the world losing to a team like the Rams.

LOL. Your screen name is Elijah, who as I recall from my days in the back of Sister Mary Godzilla's catechism class, was a prophet from the 9th Century BC who made stuff burst into flames to freak out pagans and ended droughts. (Maybe the Rams will win - they're in a pretty good drought.) Anyway, your ancestors come from some desert village in the Middle East, not some Ramada Inn ballroom bugged by Bill Belichick to figure out what Marshall Faulk was wearing while playing grab ass with Mike Martz.

Oh, and about that last comment above, "it won't be the worst thing in the world losing to a team like the Rams." Go wash your mouth out with soap.
