Got some spare time and Atlanta has been talked about a lot and will be talked about more. Just some thoughts.
Who is the Pats legit AFC threat next year? With Manning gone the QB drain in the AFC was noticeable. Ben clearly has taken too many hits. I don't know if he will retire or not but he is not as good as he use to be and it seems if the Steelers did not change their zone blitz scheme this time they never will. Ravens might surge back but I see them needing to get a lot done in FA and the draft to make a push next year. They will need IMO at least 2 years to rebuild. Denver had their D play great but it didn't matter. Unless they walk into a good QB what do they do? Also Talib will not be any better nor will Ware. They have to fix that OL and entire offense really.
In short who is the team that will stop the Pats next year? Steelers? No Ravens? No. Denver? No. Titans? Not yet. Houston? What QB? Chiefs? Not with Smith. To me it is Oakland or bust but they are so young and that D is highly questionable. Unless the Pats greatly decline I could see them back next year. Unless Houston/Denver someone gets a pretty good QB I don't see a team near our balance.
Also looking at the schedule for next year (and we know BB builds with an eye to that) they will face a lot of top QBs. They get Chargers, Raiders, Saints, Panthers, Steelers, Bucs and Falcons (super bowl rematch will be high drama)
A lot of fun games to circle on your calendar. Also worth noting the Pats will play every team that made the AFC playoffs this year as well as those who just missed. The only teams they don't play in the AFC that were decent are the Ravens and Colts.
I think BB will look to get pass rush and DE help in response to knowing he will face so many good signal callers.
