Question for You Pats History Buffs

I was talking to a friend about the Pats of the mid-to-late 90's, and we both remembered Gene Lavanchy, then of WHDH channel 7, getting tossed out of the Patriots facility and doing the majority of the 5th quarter from across the street from Foxboro Stadium. Anyone know why this was? All we could remember was Gene getting into s houting match with someone and cussing at them to shut up, then the camera shook and it went to commercial. Who was he fighting with? Just curious. It was between 97 and 2000.
