Recently in 2 separate posts I have read about:

1) How BB's team basically just beat the heck out of the other team with physical football.
and also
2) Our goal Line offense Power unit consisting of 3 TE, 1 FB, 1 RB (with 5 OL and a QB)

Ok so here is my question:
Could the Qb come out and be replaced by either T Brown, Vrabel or Seymour?
I mean if the function of that unit is power doesn't keeping the QB in limit that power?
(I confess I am not the most knowledgeable fan so please don't be too mean)

remember when Michael Bishop was on the team? he'd get subbed in for Beldsoe in certain circumstances to attempt to create a mismatch or some sort of ruse...and if I recall he was almost used as an option qb in those sets...

it can be done, but in doing so for us, taking brady out would remove any doubt about the play being pass or rush...whereas leaving him in means that Graham, Watson, Evans, Thomas and Dillon may well be receiving targets for a short pass.

Fun idea. I liked when the Giants took out that ****-boy Manning and put in the 285 lb QB in that short yardage play against the Eagles. They should probably play that guy more often but I digress.

I think this really telegraphs the play though, cause you are obviously ruling out the pass. When they did stuff like insert Hochstein or Seymour at FB they still had #12 under center taking the all important snap. No way you are going to let a defensive player take the snap if you are Josh McDaniels. hahahah

Closest thing to this that trick play is where Koppen direct snaps to Faulk.

The Chargers actually showed this type of formation this season against KC with the option QB being Tomlinson, of course he lost his footing and was sacked.

But D-cleater is right it telegraphs what your going to do if you don't have a Randle El type player.

No, that's not a good idea. For one, even in a "power" formation, you want to leave some doubt as to the probability of the playcall (run/pass). Furthermore, by taking out Brady and putting in one of those guys, not only are you tipping your hat that it's a run, you're also 100% certain that it's a run with the player subbed into the QB position. It's risky enough for a new QB or C to take a snap, let alone someone not used to it. If you throw in them having to learn to handoff (it's not as simple as you would think) then it's become risky. Even if they have that mastered, the QB doesn't block on goalline situations anyway (or any situations you really would be in tight), so it makes little sense. In all, it's a large risk for little reward. Rely on the push from the line, and keep your QB in there if you are going to sneak it.
