Question about Comp pick that was used on Brady

dude, only reason i knew was you made me curious... wohlabaugh was on the free agency list, so it begged the question, if not him, who?

and yeah I agree - was not happy when he left... did not like his replacement at all (Damien Woody)... was glad when 1. we signed compton and 2 we left him walk to the jete...
I also didn't realize Wohlabaugh signed for the most money for C's in 1999. A lot of information just wasn't available to you unless you lived in Boston during that time.

He was a good C, but that's a big price to pay for a guy who hasn't made a Pro Bowl or All Pro during his stint in NE. In the end, it didn't seem to backfire as I don't recall him being relevant in Cleveland.

I wasn't a fan of the Damien Woody pick, especially when I find out he couldn't snap a football out of the shotgun which is kind of important for their offense. Woody was so bad, Bledsoe was under center a ton in 2000 and they had to sign Compton to fill those duties on passing downs. The snaps out of the shotgun were night and day compared to Woody. With that said, there still wasn't a guy in that slot and through the 2nd round that excited me over Woody. Had Kearse dropped to NE, I wonder if they would've taken him? Him and McGinest...wow!

I think Andy Katzenmoyer was going to have a very promising career until his neck injury. It's a common misconception among Pats fans that he was a bust, but that's not true.

Those 1997-1999 drafts were painful. Especially when we got so much draft capital from Parcells and Martin.

Another alternate universe scenario. What if the Pats draft picks panned out which helped them make the playoffs from that time period? BB would have his hand forced and probably have no choice but to accept the Jets job. Tom Brady is probably drafted by the Jets assuming Rehbein goes to NY.

5.141 - TE Dave Stachelski; never played for the Pats
6.199 - comp pick [Todd Collins], TB12; 285 games played (283 starts) in 20 seasons with Pats
IIRC Pioli kept a photo of Stachelski in his office as a reminder of how they almost didn't end up with Brady.
