Ian's Daily Blog - Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe reported Sunday night that the Patriots have released third-year veteran Matt Gutierrez. This shakes up the quarterback depth chart, and it appears New England may already have a replacement in mind for Gutierrez. Reiss also reported that the Patriots have officially announced that they’ve signed free-agent quarterback Andrew Walter.Walter [...]

andrew walter is really bad i hear. let's hope o'connell is the backup and that walter never sees anything more than a clipboard.

Maybe he's as bad as that other piece of Raider trash, Randy Moss. That cagey Al Davis has been taking BB to the woodshed for years. Looks like he got sucked in again...

Seriously, who isn't "really bad" for the Raiders these days?

Andrew Walter is better than his career stats indicate.

I was there in that horrific 2006 season, and that was absolutely the worse O-Line performance and the worse offense (11 ppg) I have ever seen. Most of his horrible stats come from that 2006 season. That season was on the bed-and-breakfast OC in Tom Walsh and his back to the 70s antiquated vertical offense.

Andrew Walter was never given a real chance with the Raiders.

I think he will be a pleasant surprise IF given a chance.

I agree. He's actually not that bad. In 2006 (when he got his most exposure), there were times when it looked like there was NO o-line. Defenders were in the backfield about the same time as the ball got into his hands.

INteresting development.. where will Guitterez go Denver or KC??? Without regard Walter may develop different in this system...

A-Dub was the truth at ASU. He is sorely missed in Tempe and there is a lot of me that still believes he can be an effective NFL qb. Even Brady and Manning would have bombed with those teams and coaching in Oakland. I think Andrew will do just fine now that he is with a premier organization and the best coach in football. GO DEVILS!

Glad to hear a few positive words regarding Walter. I won't lie - I'm surprised they'd choose Walter over Gutz. But, not knowing Walter enough, I am willing to take a "wait-and-see" approach.
