Did Maye or anyone else stay out on the field and watch the Seahawks celebrate? Didn't catch it if they did. I remember Diggs and Allen doing that in KC when they celebrated.
Maye did so briefly.

I'm only asking how does losing a SB impact their quest to build a SB champion?
You don't know if you built a SB champion roster until you win it. To do so you have to get there which isn't the highest of percentages. I am very keen to see what they do and what the roster looks like in July.

To build a championship roster, you have to build it.

This is not a championship roster.

They are building one.

Of course you need to build a team out. The '24 draft is killing them right now. They could have won yesterday if the offense could have managed to put it together. That was Darnold on the other side. He sucks balls and actually sucked in that game. It was there for the taking.

Roster will have about 20 new players next season. See how they get to that.

Saw a view from the high in the stands. I got the impression he was looking for Darnold as opposed to burning it on the hard drive. Just my opinion. Not that any of that matters. What matters is getting better from the experience.

You realize they fired that coach, right?

Exactly. We’re coming into year 2 of the rebuild. They went as far as the oline could carry them, but it’s still a problem, which many said back in August. They still have several holes to fill, and assuming Kraft spends a little bit, they can certainly address them. This is not the best version of the Pats under Vrabel imo. They have a lot of work to do in the offseason. And Maye needs to work on a few things as well. This is a critical offseason for him imo.

I could go over the Seahawks roster and I'd find maybe 5 Patriots who could start of the 22 players. That's how far behind them we are.

They beat us with every single unit.

Better DBackfield because they have much better safeties.
Better LBs.
Better DL.
Better OL.
Better WRs.
TE is probably a wash.
Better RBs.

I'd take Drake Maye over Darnold as a no brainer but when you have a better Defense, he gets neutralized.

Thats fair. And they were only up 9-0 at the half. It was there for the taking. Sam. Darnold.

No guarantee they even sniff a SB again. In fact it's more likely they never get back than it is they do.
Nothing I said is stupid. If you were to say, the Pats are more likely than not to make the SB again..thats a stupid statement. The odds say it's stupid. I'll side with the odds thank you very much.

You are in fact saying stupid **** because the historical pattern is that once a team has a SB appearance they are likely to have another in the next 10 years.

Mark Twain said "Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience".

I'm gonna take that advice, starting right now.

Thanks I will do the same.

Never thought we would have made it this far this year. It was a fun run but it is clear what needs to be improved. I feel there is still a lot to be excited about.

Does that change that the fact that the '24 draft is killing them? No it doesn't.
In retrospect, the '25 draft may be one we regret as well.

People aren't going to like me saying this, but...

1st Tet McMillan over Campbell
2nd Give me Donovan Ezeriaku or Airontae Ersery instead of Treveyon
3rd Give me Jonas Sanker or Xavier Watts in the 3rd round over Kyle Williams or even give me Cam Skattebo
4th is Jared Wilson going to pan out?

I know it is so easy to look in retrospect, and I hate that argument.

But what I hate even more is a draft like '24, and if '25 turns into a whiff, then you can look back and say what it?

So I should be pissed about that? Fekkin' dumb logic right there. Mayo couldn't lead, didn't give Wolfe any direction, so Wolfe threw darts at the board as to what type of players they wanted. The whole thing sucked, they fired Mayo and now they have to start the fekkin' build over. They got lightning in a bottle because they had superior coaching and took advantage of bad football and now you're pissed at them?

I'm with @Bill Lee on this one.

One thing people might also consider. This was Vrabel's 1st year. If you cvompare him to Belichick, we went 5-11 in Belichick's first year. Belichick always instills his way of doing things in players, they learn his system. They learn to communicate. Or he gives them the heave ho.

This team will improve and do the things Seattle does by virtue of playing together longer, communicating better, paying attention to the details. Next year if we see Seattle, Kenneth Walker is not going on any long outside runs.

It's not ideal to have your LB coach doubling as your DC, but they did very well nonetheless.

They will only improve!

I mean, they were technically in it but with the way the offense was playing you never really felt like they were going to win.
TBH I thought once they got one, they could potentially have figured something out and gone on a small run. But maybe that's just the nature of being a fan, there's always a mathematical way until there isn't

I think it Maye doesn’t throw an interception when we were down 19-7, there was a good chance we march down the field again. Momentum was changing.

Also, @Bill Lee Look man, never had an issue with you. I’m proud of this team and in no way am I unsatisfied with how the season went. 14-3 and a Super Bowl appearance is nothing shameful. I’m just being critical of Maye and how he played. I think he did poorly for most of the game. It’s ok if you disagree but that’s my opinion after the game. The o-line didn’t help yeah but let’s hope he continues to grow from this

Onwards to 2026.

Fair point. Both Henderson and Kyle Williams were playoff non factors also

Thanks for the clarification. I read the comments about lack of fire and needing to find that dawg in him as a projection of a character trait. Sounds like I shouldn't have. I'm glad you are acknowledging previous growth and looking onwards to 2026.
