Pro mocks thread

If we were to make one of BB's trademark left field picks, I'd be kind of ok with Bijan Robinson. The guy is a generational talent.

You want to sit Rham to play Robinson? Or use #14 to draft a guy that is going to backup Rham? I am not sure how Robinson would fit in.

Since we do not have a LT in 2024 or a CB over 5'9", it is easy to see how a LT or CB1 would fit in.

To clarify, I don't want Bijan at 14

But if Bill does over draft someone in the first, as he's prone to occasionally do, I would rather it be a genuine blue chip player like Bijan Robinson over some RG from Tulane or someone. I thinks he's going to take the league by storm whoever he plays for.

Mocking Bijan Robinson to the Pats only makes sense from the perspective of the “pro” who wants to be able to promote how many guys they correctly predicted for the 1st round, it has a lot less to do with correctly predicting which teams they go to.

I’m with @Username on this, if you have a guy whom you think is head and shoulders (for your team) above whom you have on your team or could acquire then you should strongly consider drafting them, at least to leverage for other assets. This team is in great need of talent at every position.

I'm a big fan of "Moving the Chains" with Pat Kirwin and Jim Miller on NFL Radio. Today they did their first mock, they usually do them on Friday's for the few weeks leading up to the draft. Here's how today's came out, with MIller and Kirwan alternating picks, MIller going first this week.

Kirwin picked for the Pats, his opening comments were how they need a RT, no mention of CB or WR. So of courses he picks an undersized "Joker" as though this is a major need. Fail.

Does anyone think the first OL goes as late as 13? holy crap that would be a gift

and than its t-rex Skoronski leaving Johnson on the board, the Pats would not need a sec to pick him

Not only that, but they have Paris Johnson and Broderick Jones and Anton Harrison falling into the second.

This popped up on my YT feed, thought it was interesting. He had QB's falling, OL run early and us taking Van Ness at 14

Lance Zierlin has us taking Anthony Richardson in his latest mock.

He also says he could see BB trading up for Will Anderson.

For those with SiriusXM, Moving the Chains on NFL Radio may be doing their mock draft 2.0 tomorrow, and if the do I’d expect them to do the Pats pick in the 3:00 hour. I’m hedging a bit here because it’s not always the same schedule, often based on their interviews. If they do it, Jim Miller will likely be picking for the Pats.

The predicate is not them predicting who the teams will take, but whom they would take. I respect their opinions though often disagree when it comes to these mocks. They usually do one where fans are making picks for their favorite teams. That’s a fun listen also. Last year the fan picking for the Pats picked Kaiir Elam, which I thought was a great choice. No one picked Cole Strange

Anyway it’s something I’ve enjoyed the past few years so for those who find this type of thing fun I thought I’d mention it.

And here it is:

I’ve come to view the need for an elite boundary CB to be even more pressing this season than OT. So I’d slightly quibble with picking Broderick Jones when Gonzalez is available.

I feel that a long-term solution to LT can be found in rounds two or three.

But either BJ or Gonzo would be a fantastic development at 14. Count our blessings.

So now I can’t post my summary with my stupid team names :D It’s my “homage” to my buddy @captain stone!

I’m still in the LT first mode and especially if B. Jones or Paris J. are there at #14 or wherever they pick. but I’m expecting those two to be gone and think it’s possible Darnell Wright will be gone by then also.

If that’s the case and Gonzalez were still there I’d be thrilled with him being picked. I feel the same way about Witherspoon. If all 5 of those guys are gone then I’d be OK with picking BPA at #14 or a trade down to late 1st round if they also add a Day 2 pick. I’m warming up to the idea of Skoronski, Van Ness, Murphy, and Robinson there as BPAs. I’m out so this is just off the top of my head, not the only guys I’d be OK with there if my current 5 favorites are gone.

In the trade down scenario there are a dozen or so guys I’d be happy with, such as Harrison, Forbes, Mazi Smith, JSN, Flowers, Hyatt, Banks, and Musgrave again just to name a few off the top of my head.

Peter Schrager has the Pats taking Witherspoon at 14. I've heard he is pretty accurate (compared to others) on mocks. though I have no idea if that's true. But I'm sure most of us would be really happy if this happened!

Peter Schrager 2023 NFL mock draft 1.0: Texans trade out of No. 2; five QBs taken in first 12 picks

NFL Network make a big fuss out of how accurate his mock is last year, and they bizarrely gave him so much credit for not actually watching any tape whatsoever and basing his mock purely off what he's heard from various teams.

Witherspoon's O/U on DK sportsbook is 6.5, Gonzo is 8.5. We aren't getting either without moving up (most likely).
