The Cap only spreads so far...

Pats might be interested in Peerless Price according to rotoworld.com:

"The Patriots are reportedly interested in WR Peerless Price.
Price is a typical bargain basement reclamation project the Patriots like taking on. It didn't work out well with David Terrell last season. Mar. 31 - 5:12 pm et"

Belichick has a teamwide budget; he did not want to pay Givens a seventh round draftee money commensurate with a #1 WR. He judged that despite Givens efforts to be the best he couild be, he was a marginally speedy, good blocking WR, with creditable, but not dominant, talents anywhere.

Peerless Price is another similar type player. Like Givens he took the money the Falcon (fools?) offered, and found out he was not a #1 WR, especially playing with the most overrated, inaccurate clod, to wear a starting " Star" QB uniform in the League.

He failed on the field. I trust he got to keep some of but not all of the money. Coming to Dallas and playing behind Key and Glenn, both first round talents, would push you down the charts.

If the Pats are really looking at him as has been rumored, then I take my hat off to BB/SP. They diagnosed that all they needed or teamwise the total cap could afford more accurately, was #2 money to the #2 - #3 WR. That's what they had with DG, and that's all they are shopping for, IMHO. Caldwell, Troy Brown and the interest in Peerless tend to confirm it.

Oh Price is #2 all right. Just ask Atlanta.

There are rumors thar Atlanta wants a RB in the draft. If Lombardi were still alive he would say the Falcons have one; Mr. Vick the only time you will throw the ball in the future is on the HB option just like Ppaul Hornung used to do...

Here' your new #32 RB uniform number.

Peerless would be a good player here because he needs a QB with great timing and a rifle arm to be successfull. He's not the biggest guy and he's not a long threat...but..with Branch he could cause alot of confusion due to his quickness.

Guys like that sometimes catch 3 balls a game and all 3 just kill you.

Brady has a rifle arm and Price isn't a long threat? I think you got the wrong league my friend.

He's just like Alvin Harper from the Cowboys a few years ago who flourished with Michael Irvin, then went on his own to Tampa Bay and was a bust. He needs a huge #1 to be a good #2.

For some reason I thought immediately of David Givens when I read this (and I'm a David Givens fan).

As for Peerless Price, he was coming into his own in Buffalo, but going to Atlanta was the worst move of his career. Vick is a bad pocket passer who goes to his tight end mostly. When Price moved to Dallas, they already had Keyshawn, Terry, and Joey. Sounds like he's undervalued.

.

My comparison to Terrell meant all you guys will get excited over him because you heard his name before but he'll struggle to make the team. Some of you already have him as the No. 2 receiver for Christ sakes.

Last year we had Davis and Terrell competing and trying for spots and reps. I think Caldwell and Price in the same roles is just fine.

The difference is that both Caldwell and Price have shown that there are capable of being contributers.

Is Deion good enough to make Price a good #2?

People say that and they refuse to look at the big picture in Tampa at the time that Harper went there.

In fact, I am pretty sure we had this same argument on ESPN and you refused to look at the entire picture in Tampa then also.

Harper was a different situation and can only be compared to Price in that they both had LOUSY QBs throwing to them. Yes, Trent Dilfer from 1995-1997 was lousy, barely completing 56% of his passes. Is it ALSO Harper's fault that they had a coaching change after the 1995 season in which Tampa brough in Dungy and a new offense? One that neglected both Harper and Jackie Harris?

But, yes, lets just be ignorant and call Harper a bust.

He's a guy we've bantered around about. He was a strong #2 just a few years ago with Buffalo, I don't know what the heck has happened to him.

What has happened to him is he spent time in Atlanta playing in an offense that doesn't suit the quarterback who is running it and who also happens to be one of the most overrated players in modern NFL history.

Um, I'm not too sure that many teams are looking to sign PP at all, let alone for more than he's worth. He's going to be lucky at all if he even gets a third chance after the ATL & DAL debacles. Anywhere he signs (if its even in the NFL), he'll be playing for the vet minimum or close to it for sure.
How, pray tell, was Atlanta his fault in ANY way, shape or form? I mean, jesus, you have a RB trying to play QB who can barely complete 55% of his passes. How is that Price's fault? The expectation that he could somehow, miraculously make Vick into a decent QB is just laughable.

Who knows what happened in Dallas? The Tuna could have just signed him to keep him from other teams. Who knows. If people have some articles that say that Price was a malcontent or was in Parcells' doghouse all year, please provide them.

I think they should take a look and maybe sign him to a one year deal see where it goes from there.

Different offenses suit different players, whatever Price's shortcomings in Atlanta and Dallas, he did okay at Buffalo. It's worth vet minimum to see how well he does working with Brady and Dabol.

I never really thought much of him

perhaps is they could get minimal money for the guy to be a 3,4th back up then thats fine but dont rely on him for much more
