Pressure, crowd, got to Welker

Oh boy... Here we go. The old stadium was WAY louder (when there was a big game). Metal bleacher banging? Or crowd? Probably both.

I'm editing this for context. I generally get to maybe 1 game (PO's) a year.

Probably designing the stadium for maximum visitor experience and less for sheer loudness has something to do with this.

Agreed. And foghorn leghorn doesn't help IMO.

That's not an excuse for how piss poor the crowd has been in the past. It was super loud last night so we know that the crowd is capable of it.

People do not get excited for watching the Patriots play the Dolphins or the Bills, crowd is gonna be weak for those games. The loud fans show up for the big games. I know that I only go to the "big" games where I think the Patriots could lose or it will be very competitive.

I got rid of my Bucs, Phins, Bills, and Brown tickets

They should. Those two teams are division opponents and the Dolphins game was competitive for the first 2 1/2 quarters. I can forgive the Bucs because there would be no point in making a lot of noise and losing your voice when the team is up 23-3 vs. a totally incompetent team.

Every game I have been to the crowd is awesome when it matters.
No they aren't loud in the 3rd quarter with a 38-3 lead, but what do you expect.

The crowd was loud vs Miami.

I'm struggling to resist engaging in this Gillette "crowd issue" discussion with people who:

* Form entrenched opinions (pro or con, but mostly con) from what they see/hear via television.
* Aren't cognizant of the Gillette stadium layout/acoustics.
* Assess the Patriots home crowd in a vacuum, minus a balanced perspective of how it compares to crowds in other NFL cities.

My viewpoints should be well known by now. I have attended all but two Patriots home games since 1994, including EVERY SINGLE game ever played in Gillette. I also have attended games in 14 other NFL cities. I hope that counts for something.

What Pats Fan born prior to the 90's doesn't hate the Phins? If it wasn't for Curtis Martin they'd still be Public Enemy #1.

We've been over this before. I've been to Gillette for games before, and have seen it in person. Everything comes through the TV, like the Welker chants last night. And the layout is very similar to Qwest Field, they set a world record for decibels this season. Now, on top of all of that, we heard the way the crowd was last night and, no, the crowd is not like that every game. I thought I heard someone in the crowd shart in the Week 2 game against the Jets while the defense was on the field, and that was a very good game. Like I've said in the past, I'm sure guys like you and Joker scream the entire time, but a good portion of crowd is usually silent. Last night was the best the crowd has been, IMO, since the 2010 45-3 game against the Jets. The crowd brought the noise then, too.

Kontra, God bless you. This is insanity. I've been to Qwest Field. It's like comparing a plate to a beer flute (check the photos below; the Gillette pic is from last night, btw).

A few things I have observed, as I've stated before: the Gillette crowds are less pumped for early season games, but do get loud depending on the game situation. What you hear on television varies significantly from broadcast to broadcast, network to network. Old Foxboro Stadium was louder, due to stadium layout. Gillette crowds are, on balance, no different than crowds in other NFL stadiums in what they bring to the game-day experience.
