Press Conference introducing FAs

Morgan Moses was my personal favorite. Seems like a solid dude.
He’s great at pass blocking

Our O line is in a lot better shape than people think. We just need a LT, which we can find in round 2 of nfl draft or FA

We’re looking pretty solid everywhere except WR where we are a league worst. We are also not good at RB

We are getting better but still a long way to go.

RT- Moses
RG- Ownenu
C- Brown (hopefully, they'll upgraded here)
LG-Strange/Layden Robinson
LT- Lowe (Hopefully they'll upgrade here)

With the right coaching and scheme, my belief is Strange and Layden Robinson can be serviceable at LG

Here’s your problem, you are just like all those patriots scouts who have egregiously missed on wide receivers the past decade…looking for choir boys instead of actual quality talent. You need to adapt your way of thinking at the WR position or be prepared to have a slew of JAGs at WR which will result in another bottom of the barrel offense, a struggling Drake Maye, and a last place finish

So when i was in on dk metcalf, brandon aiyuk, and even george pickens if his price dropped to around a 4th rder i was just following this line of thinking that passes up all the quality talent because they were potential headaches? You think this because i wanted kupp and Godwin in our wr room? Yeah i never said i was looking for all choir boys, but way to jump to conclusions there.

They passed on ladd mckonkey who had no character concerns for jaelynn polk when most of us non football professionals were banging the drum for ladd. Their issues go far beyond looking for a personality anyway so that just makes your post even stranger.

Apologies based on the way I read it, you were saying you want to evaluate WRs based on locker room culture. Sounds like we are on the same page.

C could be upgraded, Lt obviously.

I’m fine with our guards. Ownenu and strange are solid enough. RT is strong.

No worries, yeah based on your wr posts in other threads we are on the same page on the importance of upgrading wr however we can. Above i was referring to Godwin and Kupp specifically, I think a wr room with 4 guys of <= 2 years experience could use a guy like that.

He was my favorite signing so far, because I love watching good man defense and if there is a good pass rush it will lead to a bunch of INTs. The DL will have time to get to the QB because the WRs should not be able to separate from great man corners in less than 3 seconds.

This might be weird but my wiener is tingly right now thinking about our 2 CBs. You can clown all you want cuz it's weird.
Must be lonely in Kansas lol

IMO Strange really hasn't done anything to gain our confidence.

lmao

He's also never had a good coach in the pros. Interested in his progress for several reasons this year. I know that he has a fine OL coach now, in Marrone.

Great run down, I would have a few players in different positions. At this point the position (Williams at DE or DT) isn't as important right now.
We need a load in the middle to draw double teams away from the edges, might have to wait until the draft at this point.

Yup.

His rookie year in 2022 in which his performance was mixed (rookie so it was expected) he had freaking Fat Matt and Billy Yates. 2023 he had Klemm and Yates again. Klemm got sick and Yates seemingly did a sub-standard job. Then Strange gets hurt. Waste of a year.

Last year was pretty much a wash as he just came back from a year being hurt. I think Scott Peters has a pretty good track record but not sure he was all that effective here (for multiple reasons).

To your point, with a healthy and motivated Strange coached by Marrone might tap his potential as a player. We'll see.

The big unknown is if he’s fully recovered from his injury, or if that’s one that costs him some of his ability. Full recovery from a torn patella tendon isn’t easy. That’s why I’m worried about relying on him at this point.

Our OL still sucks. Let's not get it twisted.

Moses is an ok RT. Onwenu is a good at RG. Strange has been kinda-sorta quality at LG. Our LT sucks and our C REALLY sucks. Or maybe Strange is at C in which case our LG (Sow/Robinson) REALLY sucks and Strange isn't proven at C to even be the passable starter he has been at LG. Add all of that together and it's a terrible unit.

One of the reasons I'm interested. I think that if he is able to recover sufficiently, (we don't know, but they have a good idea), he is going to look one hell of a lot better than he has so far, with surrounding talent improvements, and better coaching.

I’m going to like this kid (Hollins)
Well spoken and a character

Yup, definitely a weakness. They've made great strides on defense so far, but still work to be done before they've really got what they need in place. Run stuffing DT, an every down pass rushing force on the EDGE that doesn't need schemed up pressures like Landry, a deep coverage safety and possibly better coverage at LB are the pieces I think they still need. I say POSSIBLY better coverage at LB because I believe that if they got a legit coverage FS and a run stuffing NT then I think that would free them up to play Dugger and Peppers together as a SS and coverage LB rather than the true safety duo. I'm dreaming of a defense like:

Run Stuffing NT
Barmore in 3T
Milton WIlliams as a Jumbo DE
A pass rushing DE that can also set the edge (Landry ok for now)
Spillane at MLB
Dugger as the other "LB"
Peppers at SS
A coverage FS
Gonzo/Davis as outside CBs
MJones in slot (could use someone taller though to at least handle some matchups)

Tonga and Epps I guess fill those NT and FS roles for now, but neither are good enough IMO. Landry is ok for the DE spot for now, though his 1-on-1 pass rush chops might not get it done at a high level. So those are the 3 spots I think they still need to be searching for on defense.

It's ok though that they haven't fixed everything yet though. I think they've made good progress there. I don't think it was realistic to go from worst roster in the NFL to perfect solutions everywhere overnight. It's going to take a good draft next month and then probably another good draft/FA class next year and even the year after for this team to really be cooking with gas at the powerhouse level you need to compete for a SB. But in the meantime, I think they've made good incremental progress so far. Obviously heavy on the defensive side, still more to be done on offense.

I would just like them to throw a little more free agency dollars at offensive tackle. That way they could address fewer holes on draft day and really use their picks to take the best player available regardless of position.
