They'll be back, lol.And have him take down those two hot chicks? Not on your life!
Zappe ! Nice Av. Now we just need a separate forum.Don't do it Bill!
I posted this in another thread...the "Dugger sucks in coverage" take is not based on fact...Slow your roll. Very good against the run, but uncle Dugg has unanswered questions in coverage ability
We have one elite defender on our team and his name is Matt Judon
Bet most here didn't see the Pat Patriot logo etched on the sides of sand people head wraps.Chubb & Hunt scare the crap out of me
However I will be back
...and in greater numbers
Here is Brady after Bernard Pollard blew out his knee. This is a photo of Mac being taken to the locker room after the injury.
They are good enough to win the Super Bowl.Dude I don't bow to Buffalo
They're full of themselves
It's amazing how it's passed down through generations
Yeah I am high on him… looked good in preseason outside of the slippery fingers. Hopefully he’s worked on that over the last few weeks. He should be able to take advantage of this weak Cleveland run defense.Kevin Harris is a good back, I think this could be a sign of a run-heavy game plan.
Yeah they can get thereThey are good enough to win the Super Bowl.
Yea, he was limited which is better than DNP.Hopefully Guy is good to go this week.
I'm not saying he's necessarily wrong... BUT the stats this season paint quite the picture:Dan Orlovsky from ESPN was on Merloni, Fauria & Mego today and he was asked for his thoughts on the QB situation in New England. Here are some quotes/notes from his interview:
- He believes that Zappe did a great job of not losing the game for the Patriots. He also says that he watched tape and Zappe only really had to make one "NFL throw"(the TD pass to Jakobi). Meaning, the rest of his throws were screens, dump offs, or just hitting his first read quickly.
- He had some high praise of the 2 guards in New England (Onwenu & Strange):
"I've talked this for a few weeks now... Inside, their two guards, is as good as anyone's in the league"- When asked about Bill not declaring Mac the starter in his press conference today:
"Listen, I will be very clear. There is absolutely no shot that Bailey Zappe even sniffs becoming the starting quarterback for the New England Patriots as long as Mac Jones is on the team. That is not a knock to Bailey Zappe. But Mac Jones has the chance to be a very very good longterm NFL pro, and he's proven it."- "Coach Belichick knows football better than anybody in the history of the planet. I don't think he's sitting there going, 'Well, we played good one game against a team that, right now, is the softest defense in the NFL in Green Bay. And then we played solid offensively against a team that had given up more points and yards than anybody in the NFL. Great. We've got a superstar at quarterback'."
- "There's no reality here that makes Bailey Zappe a threat, or potential person, to unseat Mac Jones"
- "Mac plays significantly faster both physically and mentally. Mac can cancel out things pre-snap in such a short amount of time. He has a way quicker delivery. His ball placement is significantly better... His ability to diagnose post snap movement and coverage... He's elite at this stuff. He's not good at it, he's ELITE at it."
- "While Bailey might do a couple of those things well, or good, certainly in the short body of work that we have of him, we've got a year in the NFL and 2+ years in college of watching Mac do this stuff... there's a reason one was a 1st round pick and one was a... 4th round pick."
- "There's so much physically and mentally that Mac does consistently, at a significantly higher level, than Bailey does"
Excuse me, I forgot Evan Lazar is the messiah of football. He walks on water around here. Don’t forget to follow him on Instagram.
Suddenly, Uncle Dugg is an “elite” NFL safety. This is amusing. @captain stone
No denying it, that was good coverage on Hockenson shown in that clip; and his down-hill tackling is indeed elite... But, Lazar is a shill for the company now, so naturally he's gonna be pimpin' his fellow employees... Doesn't make him wrong, but it doesn't automatically make him right either... What it does for me is make him no longer worth reading.
Is he the new Chatham? And will the famous patsfans Chatham group text chat led by Luuked & both bruins be replaced with a lazar run minion brigadeNo denying it, that was good coverage on Hockenson shown in that clip; and his down-hill tackling is indeed elite... That’s great that he’s improving in coverageI posted this in another thread...the "Dugger sucks in coverage" take is not based on fact...
Compare his passing defense numbers against his peers thus far this year below. He stacks up as well or better than many of them (some of whom are considered "coverage" safeties like Fitzpatrick and James)

(I didn't put Budda Baker in here because he has zero stats in that line for comparison (which as he's also started every game likely means no one has even thrown a pass at his man...if true and not an error, that's pretty damn good.))
Was Dugger completely raw and not very accomplished in coverage when drafted - absolutely. Has he improved his coverage every year?
Yes.
Is he an all-pro yet? Probably not (looks like that'll be Baker if the stats are true and hold), but he likewise is comparable to some S that have been all-pros in the past SO FAR this year.
