Patriots are the #3 team in the AFC, and #10 in the NFL. Is the NFC a better conference this year?

Man, winning this weeks game, and then resting everyone in Houston wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Our secondary would most likely get smoked by the Chargers.

If we beat Jags and lose to Houston by resting our players, we can be the 4th seed. Then we could play a team we already played, like Denver or Miami. Then we could play the Colts. Then we let Bengals rematch the Chargers. Then we can play Bengals in the AFC Championship! This seems quite possible.

I don't want to see Baltimore with both Suggs and Reed back in the lineup.

i mean there are a number of teams that are contending for the 6th spot including jax, miami, denver, etc. however, i think denver and miami probably have the best shot at it. pitt is out for all intents and purposes.

A lot will have to happen. Pitt can actually still get the No. 5 seed. Denver would have to lose its next two and so will Baltimore, among other things.

I think the Pats' shot at winning the 2nd seed left a while ago. I seriously doubt that San Deigo will lose their last two. Personally, I would rather have the #4 seed. I think San Deigo would be a tougher place to play than Indy come January. Getting the #4 seed, you go to Indy in the division round and hope the Bengals take out the Chargers.

Not to be a party pooper, but realistically, unless we play better we're one and done anyway.

Could we really stack up against cinci or san diego? Or indy? I know we played them pretty well, but struggling against buffalo and carolina aren't really confidence building, is it?

Completely false. They beat Tenn. They beat Denver. If they win their last two games (MIA and BAL), they're in.

tru, but maybe PIT controls their destiny? PIT plays @ MIA and home to BALT--if they win those 2 gms, I think they're in(someone correct me). Not sure about their seeding though because they've already beaten DEN, so they'd get the head to head tiebreaker there. That's why the Pats should "carefully" play their Week 17 game

We'll end up as the 4 seed if we win next Sunday or Jets and Phins also lose. If so, BB will utilize scrubs against Houston to rest Brady et. al. for the playoffs and take the 4 seed unless very strange things happen to the other contendahs.

Is that a good thing?? Headed to SD....I wonder, but it is what it is. Frankly, I would RATHER go into Indy...BUT..might SD be peaking now with their clinching and might sputter some?? I just care that they get in...and looking at matchups of teh first WC game are impossible. BUT no matter what, 3rd goes to 2nd...no way out.

True about having to go to SD - but - we have to get there first. I feel like the Ravens are probably going to get the 5, and they scare me more than the Broncos or any of the 7-7 teams. So getting the 3 seed probably would help us in the first round. Again, I do agree about having to go to SD - I'd rather go to Indy.
